Characters
Lightning
She is said to be the main protagonist in this upcoming RPG and she goes by the codename “Lightning” as she does not know anything about herself. Not much is known about her except that she is not very feminine and she uses gunblade of sorts very symbolic of Squall’s in FFVIII.
Unnamed Man
Another character that very little is known about. He is nicknamed (outside of the game) as “Mr 33cm” which is supposed to be his shoe size. That converts roughly to a size 15 in North America. We know he rides a motorcycle that transforms into Shiva, a water summon in this game.
Unnamed Girl
Even less is known about this character as the video of her was only shown behind closed doors at TGS ’07. She is said to be more feminine then Lightning with less clothes on. She has pinkish/redish hair and has a bow for her weapon.
Battle System Bullet Points
-strategic command input in fast paced battles
-ATB fills over time and commands can be input which depletes the ATB bar
- commands are placed in a row at the bottom of the screen and are completed in order, chains can be completed by putting certain commands in order to achieve different effects.
-enemies and allies can show up on the battle screen. Its rumored that you need to decipher the difference.
-Overclock mode will stop time for everyone other then Lightning to where she can still move at full speed. This may replace the traditional limit break system.
- Summons will be used for various reasons in and out of battle
-In a developer interview, Motomu Toriyama stated that the E3 Trailer shows what is known as the 'Gravity Bomb', known as the spell 'Gravity' in previous games. Lightning seems to be able to use this to her advantage and use Gravity to harm her enemies.
Another example of a magic ability that is used in the game is Blizzard
-Another piece of information from an interview with Tetsuya Nomura stated that the game may feature a job system but there isn't any information on how this will work.
-In relation to online/offline, Yoshinori Kitase has stated in the developer interview that players will also be able to take advantage of special online features although the game is primarily a single-player game. Tetsuya Nomura has also recently stated that Final Fantasy XIII could well feature an online mode but right now, it's still only a possibility. Not a confirmed feature.
Plot Bullet Points
-The FFXIII World will be named Pulse.
-The main city the game takes place in is named “Cocoon” which floats in the sky.
-The Overworld (outside of Cocoon) is plagued with monsters and rebels
-Cocoon was created by a Crystal as the ideal environment for humans to live in.
-The Crystal creates Cocoon’s defenses, its machines and living creatures as needed by humans.
-Blasphemers and rebels are deported from Cocoon to the Overworld of Pulse by train, as you have seen in the FFXIII trailer where Lightning breaks free and takes out some guards.
-Music was a slow peaceful string-centric orchestral piece
-Very pale-skinned lady in a white flowy dress and feathery hair played a huge harp on a watery surface
-In a dark space, a floating object spewed out a bunch of CD-like discs all over the place and Pigtails Girl picked one
-Later you see a small creature with white body but greeny face summoned (out of the disc?) and the girl smiled at it
