That is a pretty sweet update, Bridger posted about it too. They should of done something like this in year 1 or 2... Blizzard makes HUGE changes from update to update.

Thus far, however, getting the chance to battle NMs has been almost as difficult a task as fighting the creatures themselves. One often needed a lot of time and plenty more luck to successfully arrange an encounter with the creatures. Took them five years to realize this. Fail.

The NM system of FF is decent though compared to WoW even without this update. In WoW no one bother to camp NN(Yes there is NM in WoW i saw one in thousand needles) since most quest greens give better drop whereas in FF those NM give better drop item then ur quest

Lol Cleb how can you even compare the two... Instancing 5, 10 or 25 mans for top end drops. Or camping a mob for a few hours, -maybe- get the tag, wait 4-7 days and repeat... Really broke imo. Doesn't even make sense that people who played the game for years and DID put in a ton of time didn't get a chance to fight those mobs.
Neither game is easier than the other imo. FFXI is just a lot more time consuming.

Not instancing i mean but actually camping like those silver elite or rare pop. while instancing is like dynamis with more space to enter. www.wowhead.com/?npc=5934

Yea... well... hopefully it is easy to get without a mission requirement. I'm not very far into ToAU expansion and I've barely scratch the surface of the latest installment.

Sorry, getting all nostalgic again. I was going through my myspace, and was watching the Shikigami weapon fight video I have up (how sad is that, I have those videos on my Myspace? Anyway, just remembering that night, Markus' support was the only reason we were still there, everyone was dead tired, just destroyed totally, but he convinced me and ultimately us to stick it out, and Shiki finally dropped. Tork tanked it for me, I was a wreck, just an awesome feeling of accomplishment. I was in gamestop today and saw the 2008 collection of FFXI. Almost bought it ;-;. Oh, and it'd be nice to have conversation with people who understand ^^ ^^; and ;-; are emoticons too! Miss you guys, thats all I wanted to say ^^

Camping Shiki was so fun because whenever it did finally drop, the person who got it really, really, really appreciated and it made the time spent (sometimes over and over) so worthwhile in the end.
He's a "fun" camp, getting ToD isn't too bad / what was it, a 15m window? Easy to pay attention for 15m as opposed to the usual 3 hour windows ><

Yeah it was something along the lines of 15 min window. I remember one time (pretty positive it wasn't the drop) I pulled him by throwing a pebble at him while he was killing other campers.
I'm sooooooo glad I have that kill on video :-)
