It'd be interesting to see if there are any differences in when he chainspelled one fight to the next, if you have multiple fights screenshotted.
BTW, I'm by no means an expert on any of the fights, or trying to say I am one, it just seems like there's some sort of key to the way maat reacts in the ones I've studied.

Speaking as RDM maat again;
the worst mistake i ever made on Maat was taking it slow and easy. Aerya's right, keeping your cool is the most important part, but every time I took it slow, worked out my next move etc, I got raped.
When i went it, balls out and went ape shit on him, he crumbled. Maybe thats the problem? you took him more defensively rather then offensively?

I actually took my time with him.. nice and calm-like. I didn't even get to chainspell nuke him because she chainspelled at the same time and had to be slept through it. Bind, sleep, buff, debuff, buff, bind, nuke, nuke, bind, sleep, nuke, nuke, etc etc..

my last fight was kinda crazy, I went in, bind, hit shadow, by the time I saw the result I was already doing sleep 2, but also hit shadow, so I ran followed closed by his fists, sleep 1 put him to sleep cure 3 so it wouldn´t waste too much mana, blink, stoneskin, yadudo drink, dispel twice, he woke up, chainspell bind, aero3, he countered with dispel taking off the refresh effect, aero 3, aero 3, almost out of mana, sleep 2 landed right after he chainspells, convert, cure 4 once, no time for buffs, had already lost too much time, bind aero 3, bind wore off, aero 3, he runs to me and punchs, aero 3, he counters with blizard 3 leaving me with 68 hp, aero 3 finishes him off with 6 mp left damn, that was fun and exciting, nothing like an even match with maat to get the adrenaline flowing ^^

The biggest reason i used hi-pots is because I'm a galka..... and i probaly only got like 3 cure IVs in probaly like 4 but still not that many, yeah it does really get on my nerves when someone says its easy and they beat it doing blah blah blah.... it makes me feel like they think very litle of me... like i just went in there totaly unprepared like a newb.... I really did have 5 good fights, well planned and well executed in every respect(atleast that is how i felt) and then th 6th one was a push over.... i just wish people would have a more opend mind to the "you lose speech before you even do" they act like i'm making this up and i just suck thats why i lost.... it would be intresting to figure out the trigures to his WS spam mode.... i also wish i had SS of all my fights. because i swear i got him down to the same HP% on all my fights

Just speaking for myself. I never said it was easy. In the spirit of march madness, let's compare it to winning the tournament (without a subjob).
You will need to play well. You will need to prepare. You will need to have -some- luck.
But, if you manage to win it, it's not all luck. It's going in with all those things. That's why I refute anyone who says it's just luck for this, or for COP. You have to have the skill to play to a level, where that little bit of luck will help you overcome the odds.
It's by no means an easy fight without having GS levelled, from what I've read. Most seem to lose it a few times before finally getting the old man.
And happy birthday.
