well tarick, with my strategy I have a nearly flawless record on him, I'm about 9/12, being 3 times for one person who didn't have capped enfeebling or elemental magic I just like to go and kill him for the fun once in a while

I can think of 3 proven strat's for RDM maat actually.
Matter of fact, I failed on the common method a couple times before I changed strats and won.
They should update Maat to ENM style; after you've beaten him if you go back again you get 1-2k exp if you win. ^^

Coming from RDM maat, I will have to aggree, alot of it is luck. Beyond only resisting sleep; luck on resists and if he decides to go ape shit. I think his telltale quote before spamming Asuran Fists is sure enough evidence imo. Any other reasons why he would say "You've lost" before your dead and he spams 3+ Asuran Fists back to back? you are 100% correct, you guys can say blah blah blah strat but it really does come down to luck of the draw... i would just like to point out as i did in my last point that in that particular fight affterr the speech he asuran fists me multiple times.... i gurantee there is no way to live through that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! reason being i think he would keep using asuran fists until you have died.... my logic behind this is 3 fights ago i took 2 before i died and that one i took 3.... even if i had invincible and did all that other shit there is no way i could win he would just keep hammering me with asuran fists... w/e don't believe me i could care less.... i know its hard for people to come accross some bogus asinine system as the Maat test and say that its all luck... because i fucking swear to god i fought him better my first 5 fights and the 6th fight was a push over. i had something wrriten out to modify this but too many connections and i lost it.... the jists of i were.... if you could beat him fast enough as to not allow him to enter "maat bash mode" then you could essentialy go flawless... like aerya(or he is just the luckiest rdm on titan) only problem is its hard to do anything with pld fast enough in the DD department... pretty much just wait, eye drop when youare blind and build tp and use as fast as possible... and the sleep tp/icraus wing is an obvious......... only way i see a pld beating it fast enough to not enter that mode would be doing Spinning slashes with G.sword and have full dd setup

Well, I only know the mnk strategies for this particular fight, but...
Maat responds to the way you fight him. If, as a mnk, you go in and hammer him with howling fist right away, expect to piss him off. He will start trying to beat your ass and you are now in a race of who can kill who first.
If instead, you take it easy, and just build up your DOT, then you are left with all your weapons still available when he starts to unleash. That's when you strike, when he'll no longer let you soft-palm. The spike damage finishes him off, instead of just pissing him off.
That's the theory in the monk battle strategy I used. Now it won't be the same for Paladin, but I would have to imagine there is something that triggers Maat to spaz out the way he did.
So...you went in with the same strategy 6 times, and lost 5 of those? Unless you made noticable mistakes, didn't you stop to re-evaluate your strategy?

Same stragety.... 5 great fights..... go in the 6th and fuck up(royale) and still beat him.... and no i really never re-evalutated my strat... i did for like a day and started lvling up G.sword but i said fuck it and just went in with sword/shield

Now I'm curious...
go through your whole battle strategy.
How did the 6th one differ? (how did you fuck up?)

all right, My basic strat was to go in naked(dont know if that actualy helps) i do the basic shell/tect & foods and sleep to 100% run in poped swift blade then icraus/swift blade. through out the fight i kept blind off myself.... and to me the royale fuck up was accidently using a swift blade while he had invincible still up.... was just a mental slip i thought i screwed myself there... knowing the other fights how close i felt i was from getting offf one more WS.... the major difference of the 6th i cut back on hi-pots and bought a vile exlir +1, i still reall dont know how i won because i got him donw (to the best of my recolection) to the same hP% as all the other fights and lost them but this one i won..... i was gonna fraps it but i forgot......... also looking back thte vile exlir +1 might of been over kill....... my other fights i had a nQ one me but that one i opted for the +1

I'm trying to track down what triggers the spazzing. Only one poster referred to it on the thread I read.
I don't know if it's a timing issue. I read one guy beat it by taking 3000 points of damage and living.
There's something though, that triggers him going into that mode, I'm sure of it.
I'm assuming you used attack food? MP drinks? I still think cutting down on hi-pots ended up being better for you. Hi-pots restore 100 hp. Each of his fists was hitting you for 70-100 unguarded.
I'll post if I find any further info.

I've heard dealing 1000 dmg to maat or 4 ws to maat.... but i have a hard time beliving those, i'm really unsure what it is, it seems like a lot of pld's use a lot of different ways to beat it.... papa said 1 vorpal blade and 1 spirits within at 300%.... first person to tell me that (and it worked for him) other say this others say that. its intresting but i do agree there has to be some kind of trigger, however i still firmly believe once he has enttered that mode he will not stop until you are dead.... and i defintly took more then 3000 points of dmg through out that fight the 4 ws i took are close to 2k in themselves and that was at the very end of the fight

it´s true, maat is totally random, sometimes u go and even with best gear and strat, still he won´t sleep, other times with totally sucky gear he will sleep like a baby... i never tried the go in naked though, it would cut the rdm mp too much, which could totally screw up for the finishing blow, last time I fought him I had 6 mp left after last aero 3 and his giving up, it´s totally random too, I had him give up after using a spell when he was at 36%, while other times he´s give up around 12% for rdm maat is about 40% panic control, 25% luck, 25% skill and 10% gear imo

Maybe cured himself for that much, I don't know.
This is what I've found:
Hi-pots - Use ONLY when maat is invincible. The rest of the time should be cure IV and refresh drinks.
This is more conjecture based on what I've read, but PLD Maat has his own timer, and you're right...if he hits that, you're screwed.
Were I to try PLD maat, I would not sleep tp. I would use blink band, maybe memento muffler, then go in sword blazing. You can build tp alot quicker on maat than you can with sleeping pots. The key is to do the most damage from the time you enter the BC, it would seem, so cutting out all the un-necessary steps at the beginning would help.
So my guess is that Maat's rage mode is based on a timer.

maybe for pld... but for rdm it isn´t, he can chainspell and go nuts right after u chainspell and wake him up or not chainspell at all and all my fights are under 2:30

Yeah, mnk fight he goes nuts based on how quickly you try to kill him. If you come off the bat with a couple of ws, you better be ready to take him down quick.
Each fight is different. I wish I had some other 70 jobs to try out on him.
