This Leipzig thing is supposed to be where they are going to unveil the Wrath of the Lich King trailer. Tomorrow (Thursday) @ 2pm iirc. Posting here to remind myself (or whoever else reads this) to go look around for it tomorrow.

They need to put back backward compatibility back to the PS3 >.> Why? Who doesn't have a PS2? Honestly I've used my BC maybe on two games lol.

I don't.
Mine broke, and frankly, it's pointless to buy a "new" system for $120 when the PS3 was supposed to have the feature built into it.
Despite that, I still have a huge collection of PSX/PS2 RPGs and other games that, quite frankly, I would dust off and play every once in awhile.
While I may not be the typical consumer in this case, the fact remains that it's a major selling point for me... and a result, I still haven't gotten one.

The BC issue is nothing to do with you not getting a PS3. There are many more reasons..justified or not as to why you don't own a PS3. You can easily find an 80 gig...often find a discounted 20 gig...and randomly still find 60 gigs with little detective work. The 20 gigs that are still available are dirt cheap..so you could have your cake and eat it too if you wanted it.
I said the same thing...60 gig or bust...and look at me...I don't bother with it. I wanted it for the sake of wanting it. So I don't consider you a minority at all..I consider you in the same situation as everyone else only a little more stubborn about it.
With that said...there is talk of downloadable PS2 games which would be awesome. I'd love to own them digitally.
I mean you have to admit it sounds funny when you say it out loud....
I won't buy a new console with new games bc I can't "pick up my old games and dust them off every now and then" which I can't do now anyways.

I'll admit, I'm stubborn over it, but the reason behind it is that I don't like having the choice taken away from me.
Downloadable content is great - if you don't already have the physical media. I find the concept of charging someone for the same content twice so they can use it again absurd.
Now if you missed out on the content the first time around or you have since gotten rid of it, it's absolutely a fantastic feature... but I have no plans to shell out cash for the exact same game twice when they can't even be bothered to include additional content or something else to justify it.
As for the 60gb model vs. the 20gb model - the fact that Sony is no longer supporting hardware emulation alone has caused the price on the units to spike. Granted, that's a choice available to the consumer. Hardware-enabled backwards compatability is not the same thing as software emulation.
I don't think it sounds funny at all. There are three big reasons why I would plan on buying the PS3:
1) New, console-exclusive games that I have an interest in. 2) The ability to play old games I already have without repurchasing them. 3) The ability to play Bluray DVD media.
I rank them pretty much in that order.
Point 1 is entirely a matter of opinion. I feel that there are not enough first party titles that I have a vested interest in to support the cost of entry for the unit and games. As a matter of time, this will eventually become a non-issue for me. There will be more good games, available for less. When that time comes, I'll probably buy one regardless of the other two points.
Point 2 is something I feel strongly about. When my Playstation One broke, there was no point in replacing the unit since the PS2 was backwards compatible. What I want from this is to be able to bring my PSOne/2 games forward again, without having to spent more on a used system. It may not be a big deal to you, but I have an extensive collection of older and rare games that I still play.
Lastly, Bluray is something at the bottom of my list. I don't feel the jump in quality between SD-DVD content and Bluray is enough to warrant a $500 pricetag for a player. Seeing as how I'm also a gamer, the PS3 would be the obvious choice for me, but it's just not something I feel strongly about.
Backwards compatibility may not be a big issue for you - but for me, it's the breaking point. If I didn't have other issues, I would already own one. Since those issues have not yet been addressed, however, it's a major selling point for me.

Basically you just confirmed my point. BC is an excuse..not a reason. Your number one point for not getting a PS3 is as you said, opinionated first party games.
In the end..you would be better getting one now that does have BC that fixes your point two and point one will fix itself over time. That way they don't become scarce.
So your points for not getting a PS3 to me are even more valid reasons to get one ASAP.
I however have a different opinion in the matter of your console preference to say that you're not fond of the PS3..which is ok..nothing wrong with that. Bascally this generation people are picking each system apart on these little things rather then giving each system the credit they deserve.

Btw only the 40GB system is in sales over here in asia. They are "reintroducing" the 80GB system but imo it just the 40GB system with a 80GB hard disk in it

We seem to go around in circles a lot here.
The PS3 is a superior system in many respects. Given the comparable price point and relative availability of quality titles, it's now much easier to recommend as a gaming system than it was even a year ago.
It has superior hardware, and I have no doubts that, once manufacturers learn to fully unleash its potential, the graphics will blow the socks off anything the X-brick 360 can produce. It uses Bluray media, which is an obvious plus if you're looking for the system to double as a media player. It also has out of the box 1080p support, which is not something the 360 natively has (720p/1080i support.)
These facts do not mean that the system is right for me, right now.
I have a lot of respect for the console, but that doesn't mean I'm going to run out to the store and buy one. It's a bad example, but you can test drive a Hummer and still have no intention of buying one. It may be a nice car and have a great set of features, but if you really care about gas mileage, then you're probably not going to want to spend money on it until the price of gas goes back down.
In the end, I "prefer" the 360 because it fits most of my current needs, where as the PS3 does not. It doesn't make me a fanboy, it doesn't mean I'm trying to "prove" anybody elses' opinions wrong, and it doesn't mean that I am incapable of appreciating the positive qualities of the system - it means I have different priorities when choosing a system.
Sorry if this comes across as a rant. I don't see this as "arguing" over which system is better than another one. I merely wished to point out that backwards compatibility is a very real issue for a lot of people, even if you don't personally think so.
As for rushing out to the store/ebay to buy an original model PS3 right now, I'll pass.
Until I feel my first issue is sufficiently addressed, I have no need for a PS3. As we've both acknowledged, this is purely a matter of opinion. Maybe in another year, I'll feel more like plunking down a few hundred for one. Then maybe I can have my cake and eat it too.
[Edited to be a little more coherent. Working for 12 hours straight and getting home late blows.]

No I don't consider this an argument at all lol. Merely a debate with no real winner. And yea my last post was all but coherent. I re-read it and said Fuck it and hit reply anyways lol. I don't think the PS3 is superior by any means. I mean it can be a ferrari but if you got complete a rubiks cube, read war and peace, and come up with an answer for world hunger before you can start the car...it doesn't really help. I do think that people who don't buy a PS3 (in general not everyone, not you) use this as an excuse or crux to justify them being a fanboy. No different then PS3/Nintendo fans use the RROD to justify not buying a 360. Id like to hear your opinion on certain AAA titles coming out for the PS3 right now though And McClebby..if I remember right you live in the Phillipines? So it would make sense that you would import your PS3 anyways because it would be cheaper. And since they are region free for HD it doesn't matter.

The Clebster is from Singapore, actually. ;-) In the same "general" region but Singapore is about the same distance from the Phillipines as India is from Cambodia and Vietnam, so take that for what you will. heh
