- The summons must be defeated in battle before they are obtainable. - The first character to get his summon is Snow. - There will be 6 characters in the party. (So this should quell any more speculation about there being more characters!) - Fang will join the party either towards the end of the game or last. (!) - Apparently the name of the blue-haired feathery NORA guy is revealed, but somehow the katakana characters aren't appearing so I can't see the name! *grr* (Edit: Rygdea?) - The spell Ruin is specific to the ATK/COM role. - An Earthquake spell will also exist in the game, but the way it is used will be different from before. - Apparently, the characters will have a role that they will largely assume in battle. (?) Lightning: ATK/BLA, Snow: DEF, Vanille: HLR/"ジャマー" (A new role! "Jama-"= "Jammer"? No idea.), Sazh: BLA/ENH, Hope: ENH/HLR, Fang: ATK. - Regarding the Crystariums, apparently abilities/skills that are not a character's specialization will take more CP to unlock.

If this is coming out in spring 10, IDK how they are hoping to put out XIV the same year. (Considering they want the BETA to run for 6 months it is rumored). Unless the BETA is going to be Japanese only. I can see the japanese XIV dropping say fall 10, because they get 13 this year, but for us....IDK, looks like early 2011 to me.

Pulled from 1 up.com
"We knew a Final Fantasy XIII announcement was due today, and it seemed certain to finally be word of a North American release date. The speculation was spot-on, as the new trailer released this morning (above) pegs the release at March 9, 2010. We've been hearing buzz that Square Enix was aiming for a spring release of the game, and it looks like they're set to hit the mark. Check out the trailer above and keep a watch out for more details soon."

FFXIII and FFXIV have two entirely separate development teams. They may share members between the teams for specific tasks (like artists or sound developers,) but the two projects are being developed simultaneously. As far as the marketing behind "two Final Fantasy games" come out in the same year - they target different demographics.
