Well I had thought about playing it for some time and after watching a lot of videos i think its a cool concept but going to have poor implementation. I've read therer are a ton of errors and people getting BSOD and the que times are unbearable from what i've read on peak times. not to mention the people i hear talking about this game, mainly, some people i know in real life just annoy this shit out of me. their logic: HEHEHEHE crysis good graphics, conan good graphics YEAH computer E-peen rawr. Then they are like boobies hahaha belly jiggles hehehe. Hey I like arnold, I liked the movie, I like graphics therefore I like Age of Conan.... but anyway i'd play it if they had a free trial but I don't think i'm going to pay for it right off the bat with out trying it out first. so maybe some day. It could be awesome for all i know  |

A lot of WoW people have tried it out and said it looks like a great game but that they rather wait until the bugs are worked out.

yea there are alot of opening bugs from what I read. Seems to have a good mix of Wow and FFXI to be honest from what I've seen.
I picked it up today and I'll install it tonight or tomorrow and check it out. I just got a new pc...so we will see how it goes.

I heard just about everything is instanced, is that right? Also i was reading over at MMORPG some of the thread talking about it and a lot of the ideas they have in the game were done before like the siege and guild city stuff so maybe they used those failures as examples and make the system work

yea I believe everything is instanced...or at least most stuff is..not sure.
What I like is the ability to solo to 80...but can get there in party set ups. I like the directional attacking as mobs can defend more on certain sides of their body at will.
Its definatly in the infant stages but it has the possability of being a great mmo and it is selling very well... 800k opening week actually.
Also 3 different servers to choose from. PVP free for all, PVP (a lighter version with rules) and PVE player vs environment.
However even PVE has some PVP aspects in certain zones.
In PVP your guild can build their own city and actually tackle other guilds cities by destroying them and taking them over.

Yeah I think the directional attacking would add a bit of fun but from what I saw its not much different then say rogue. The directions are cool but they are already set combos to activate finishing moves and stuff. i also read about a horrible exploit where people could get to lvl 80 with in a day or two and AoC isn't going to strip them off the level for using the exploit.

I still haven't played it yet. Took like 90 min to two hours to install and update....but then it requires Vista Service Pack 1 to run. I tried to run it without VSP1 and it instantly crashed. So I wanted to do some research on VSP1 since I heard all the nasties about it.....started to download it but it took forever to download..then installing VSP1 took over an hour itself.
Hopefully tonight I'll get to check it out.

Stahn and Ermine both have multiple level 50 characters. They sorta like it but there's a lot of bugs. They compare it to Guild Wars.

Actually I just got the game running finally. Vista Service Pack 1 actually fixed something..go figure.
I haven't played much...but the gameplay is definately unique. It requires alot of quick reactions to the direction your attacking in. No engaging a mob and letting the program swing for you while you occassionally cast a spell, do a special move etc. Its all user controlled while there are some things that proc naturally.
I killed a few people and a few enemies but spend the rest of the night fixing the resolution and turning a few graphics off because this game sucks up resources. I tried running it full screen 1920X1200 and it was choppy as hell. Might have gotten 5fps lol.
I resized it to like 1200X860 or something and it seems to be running decent now. Perhaps I'll turn bloom back on and increase my draw distance.
