yah, but sega's demise started oh so long ago on how they would suddenly quit supporting anything they made the instant they made something else Hello genisis goodbye master system.. no new games for it, couldnt even find controllers within like 2-3 months after genisis comes out.. and they did that everytime with each upgrade.. lol an they prolly wish they could forgot the 32X, yet they promtly did drop it, lol i myself learned my lesson after the sega cd, it had some kewl shit to play on it, but they dropped that thing over a bottemless pit once the 32x came out, an then what?? the saturn comes out 6 months later an the 32x gets the axe.. they jus fucked up too much an quit supporting their stuff way too soon. groups of people may be idiots, but u fuck em over enough an they can get the drift

Not that i'm denying the honey flavored lies that Sony may tell from time to time..but I won't stop there and say its just Sony. Microsoft (mabye not on Xbox but other products) is famous for not delivering. One thing I do believe though....is that both systems will be awesome. However...i'm looking for RPG's...let both systems get a crap load of those and I can part their BS with some good RPG game play.

Microsoft does falter on a lot of its other products, but they've always been completely honest and open about Xbox, which is something I respect, despite my overall hatred for the company. I love my Xbox, and that's because the people they have working on it really care about people enjoying their gaming experience, and they realize that the experience doesn't end with the games. Customer support, Xbox Live, tech support, all that crap -- as much as I hate to admit it, I have to give Microsoft props for how well they handle the Xbox and things related to it. I mean, I'm not retarded; in the end, it's all about the money for them. Happy customers mean return customers, and that means more money. But at least they are doing what they can to make customers happy. I have to give Nintendo that same respect, as well. A good friend of mine bought a Gamecube and, similar to my own story, a year after he bought it his drunken dorm roommate made it no longer functional. He called up Nintendo's customer support line, explained what happened, and they shipped him a brand new one, with a game of his choice. All they asked for in return was that he ship the damaged GC back to them, and the shipping was even pre-paid.
Sony, however, doesn't get that praise from me. When you call Sony and ask them to fix your PS2 or your PSP, they tell you to ship it to them, and they fix it for $100. Then they ship it back to you with a convenience charge of $25, or something like that. Doesn't matter what's wrong with it, they charge that as a flat rate. You may as well buy a new freakin' system, and that's exactly what they tell you to do on the phone -- just buy a new system.
Don't take this as some huge anti-Sony rant; really, I do like the system. I've just lost so much faith in the company in the past four years that I can't help but take everything Sony says with a skeptical approach.

Well I have to stand up for Sony on the shipping and repair part. Business's are here to make money..end of story. If we want them to continue in said busines..they need a profit margin. I think I'm more leniant towards that sort of thing as I work for a large company and know the ins and outs of marketing/budgeting. Now I agree with Xbox keeping pretty customer friendly...The only thing I think was a mistake is the 2 Xbox360 packages. We all were expecting a $300 dollar system (inwhich is still offered) but realistically we will all pay $400 dollars because most of us are gamers. Now..I think what Xbox did with their online service is great...but I think its contradictory sort of. I think you will get more support from the developers if online service was free and you paid the developer directly for online play. I understand this would lead to more expensive online services...but it would also lead to more online competition, therefore bettering the overall experiences. FFXI on PS2 for example...Sony has no uniformed online service...but you can play any game you want for free through them..just the membership fee's are owed to the developers (btw, the real reason we game). I dunno...I could be wrong on that aspect..but I'm willing to pay more to kick some dirt up for competition. I do know that PS3 is working on an online support service that is supposed to be free. Again...I will see you all on FFXI through the 360 and I will definetly own a PS3..so I'm impartial and not biased.

/cry... two days ago my game cube just randomly stopped working. basically the light/power turns on then turns off immediately... i was playing it earlier that day. came home and turned it on and it just stopped working. i hope i get a free game cube like you mentioned earlier gael, but i've had it for like a year and 8 months, so they'll prolly just tell me to get a new system ; ; i'm so sad! that was the only thing i could use to get over my ffxi withdrawal!!!! now i just have to pretend my mock trial shit is like a game.... /sigh. oh well. gotta call nintendo monday...
sorry, was a bit off topic...

in total i got 2 ps2's myself...the first one never stopped working..but the cd drive kept getting jammed and it has some disc read errors that normally were fixed by cleaning the lens. I was in line 13 hours the opening day for the PS2. So I got a very first generation one. I also know a friend who got a repair for free...(not sure what it was though) I think it will be an awesome next gen because of all the competition.

I lucked out also. My first generation PS2 never failed. I REALLY know how lucky i am too, because they were shoddily made and rushed out the door to turn a profit. I feel that delivering a superior product is essential to your reputation and profit margin in the future. This is a reason why I love valve software, they would rather delay their games for months, and sometimes years (half-life 2) in order to ensure that they are delivering a product that will change the face of gaming, or give you a unique experience. Follow that up with excellent customer support, and regular updates and bug fixes, and that makes for a Grade A corporation.
Aegnor, my roomate, has some trouble with his PS2 also, but the lens cleaner took care of that problem really fast :-D

I heard a nasty rumor that the new FFXI expansion will only be made available for the PS3, any truth to that?

and praytell..how is PS3 gonna suck. The PS3 is gonna have the best stats as far as sheer power, it still has the most developer support (which is what matters). Now before you yell "Fanboy!"...I am going to own all 3 systems...but Nintendo Rev...is geared towards the younger generation...the only good games they have at the moment are the ones ported and sequaled from when I was kid (I'm 27 btw). Zelda, Metroid etc. Xbox 360 is being released too early..they should hold onto it for a bit longer...I think that will be a mistake on their part...but I still can't wait to get one. Iwata himself stated the new controller/remote is geared towards non-gamers. People who have the tendancy to turn the controller when going around a corner on a race game or jump out of their seat when jumping with Mario. They have a huge lack of RPG's also.
and Aidar...thats not true.

Didnt sega drop out of the console race because their president had died. And his dying wish was that sega stop making consoles (he thought that it would kill the company) and just make video games? I dont know where i heard this it was a very long time ago.
And I agree, dreamcast was pretty good although I dont think they make games for it anymore.

Dreamcast just stopped making money due to lack of developer support. I don't see Sony as anti-American at all....nor Nintendo for that matter...It does seem that Nintendo tries for World wide releases more often..but Sony is coming around on that.

Naw I think Nintendo is a non-racist company which is why I like them a lot. Sony just gives me a bad vibe, i dont know why.
