Well, this has gone so off topic, that the thread is now useless to people who wanted to accomplish what was posted here. I posted a new topic, requesting non-relevant comments to not be posted, this request was completely ignored, and the new thread has since been deleted.

Just think guys... *IF* Square-Enix does actually manage to change Paladin in a significant way by giving it even more hate tools and allows it to try subs other than WAR, you'll instantly get a totally new level of versatility in party.
Subbing WHM will give you more MP, divine seal, and status cures at the expense of some survivability (but you'll get stoneskin for soloing.)
Subbing RDM will give you access to Stoneskin, Blink, Aquaveil and Phalanx.
Subbing NIN will give you access to Utsusemi, along with dual-wield.
Your damage options aren't really going to open up, and you'll still be strictly defined as "Tank," but the number of ways that you can do it will be significantly expanded.

sosa i guess u never seen my pld/thf at work, with dd gear and sa i can do 600-800 dmg on ITs and VTs

Do you have a Joyuese Tork? It would be helpful for spamming WS.
Sosa there are a lot of options Pld can use to up Dmg, O-hat and Life Belt for starters. There's also a lot of not so expensive gear that you can use for DD, but a lot of Pld never use it as much of this gear does not have +Emnity. Let's also assume that the tank looses hate in this party. With 6 Pld, who will care who gets hit?
Ok so we got:
Pld/Thf - Damfool
Pld/Nin - Tork
Pld/Whm - Bridger
Pld/War - Anyone

I'd care, because I'm a statwhore. I'm not saying they don't have viable DD options, I'm just saying that the job has a very strong natural tendency to "lock" it into tanking due to its general lack of attack options (sword + shield or stave onry, GSWD if you don't mind whiffing more than an Elvan DRK trying to hit a black cat in the dark,) and complete lack of job abilities and traits that compliment its damage output. Almost all of its traits or abilities focus on reducing damage or enhancing emnity. Also, I realize it's not as big a deal at higher levels, but Paladin has almost no accuracy options short of life belt and sniper rings at mid levels. PLD can put out damage, they're just not nearly as effective in that capacity as they are taking it. |

Oh I agree, at mid-levels our options would be next to nil, which is why we aren't doing it mid-level. At 70+ however, we get all sorts of options from subjobs. /Thf = SATA /Sam = Tp Build -> I have never heard of anyone trying this /War = Berserk/Warcry /Nin = Dual Wield II ( or III or IV with right equipment ) /BST + Koenig + Lightstaff = Best charmer in game since they removed charming gimp, can also release pet before end of fight so it doesn't exp gimp. As I can now Charm EM mobs as Pld/Bst, I am still kind of shocked. High level accuracy options aren't too hard to find. Sosa, it's perfectly okay if you want to be a Pld.  |
