Don't know how many Persona/Atlus fans we have in the house, but I know that for me, Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 and 4 were two of the most original, innovative, fun, and memorable RPGs ever to be made (obviously 3 more than 4, but 4 vastly improved on the system they created in 3). "Catherine" will be the first current-gen HD console game released by the creators of the Shin Megami Tensei: Persona series and will tackle "adult" themes like sex, drugs, drankin', and other stuff. From what I can tell from this AWESOME trailer, it looks like most of the gameplay will take place in a nightmare world -- which if you've played Persona 3/4 should come as no surprise . Check it out! It's coming for Xbox360 and PS3... can't fucking wait. Atlus always does a stellar job of localizing so i'm extra excited. kotaku.com/5617465/nsfw-catherine-gets-debut-trailer

How the hell did I not hear of this?
Also, it looks like Medoracroix will finally have to get with the times and buy a next-gen system.

Mark dude, blow off the dust on your PS2 and go buy Persona 3:FES and Persona 4. Better yet, if you have a PSP, buy Persona 3 Portable. It's the same game as 3, but it also gives you the option to play as a female protagonist, which drastically changes the "social" dynamic of the game (you'll see what I mean). I'm considering buying a PSP just for this game, and just to play through again as a chick. Give it a shot... if you don't like it I'll buy your copy off you (not really).

It's true. They're great games and they're relatively cheap and easy to find. The PS2 really was one of the best systems ever released for RPG fans. I have fifty or sixty games on my "eventually find time to play through" list... including DQ8, which I still haven't beaten. It bears mentioning, though, that the Persona and Shin Megami Tensei series have a well deserved reputation for being Nintendo Hard. Make sure you take your blood pressure medication before you play them!

I personally never played the Persona games either,...I did hear of them thou. I had DQ8 in the house for the past year, played a little but no more than 10 hrs. (and 9 just came out last month) I'll have to start over since I'm totally lost.
Been playing all the FF's lately....again. Just finished 8 yesterday as a matter of fact. Beat 9 around June. Gonna see if I can rumble through 7 before 14 comes out.

I would also recommend Breath of Fire IV: Dragon Quarter (for ps2)... pretty rare find, but a very different take on the usual boy-turns-into-dragon BoF game, with a lot of replay value.

The dust is already blown off! I'm fucking around with GTA: San Andreas atm... I did an ebgames search and I'm pretty sure I found used copies of the 2 Persona games. I enjoyed the entire Breath of Fire series and I can't seem to find any of them anywhere. The one I really want to play is the one where you build a town.

Whoops I think I actually meant Breath of Fire V... actually there's no number on it. It's just Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter. Seriously check it out though, incredibly story, unique and thoughtful battle system. And the "Town" aspect of it is complex and fun too. GET IT! GET ALL THESE GAMES! PLAY THEEEEEEEEEEEM!

Oh and "Catherine" is slated to be more of an action/adventure title, apparently. But they promise a deep gameplay and story experience which I expect fully. They're saving all the awesome new RPG stuff for Persona 5 HD....... /drool

Persona 4 is awesome! I'd never heard of it when I picked it off a pre-owned games shelf and was pleasantly surprised. There are some flaws but these are very easy to over look and forget about when you get into the game. ;D A persona game on the PSP? How easy is it to come by? Or is E-bay the only answer?

P3P (Persona 3 Portable) for the PSP is the same game as Persona 3 for the PS2 but with some cutscenes and such taken out. Check it out, I'm playing it now actually as the girl instead.
EDIT: forgot to tell you, shouldn't be hard to find, any gamestop or whatever should have it.

Wassup Tedra, welcome to our little home on the net ^^ Thankyou Markus, as suggested I thought I would check it out, not to hot on MMORPG's but I've enjoyed my fare share of unknown RPGs to make it worth my while.
