Pretty damn sure this is him. Same episode:
It's weird to me how little words and lyrics most of these songs have. Some of them are still pretty great though, instrumental wise. Idk, I like it, makes my head bob

For today's crustday we have a band that's technically considered "post-punk" but this song especially highlights Joy Division's punk roots.
Joy Division - Interzone
I walked through the city limits, Someone talked me in to do it, Attracted by some force within it, Had to close my eyes to get close to it, Around a corner where a prophet lay, Saw the place where she'd had a room to stay, A wire fence where the children played Saw the bed where the body lay, And I was looking for some friends of mine. And I had no time to waste. Yeah, looking for some friends of mine.
The cars screeched hear the sound on dust, Heard a noise just a car outside, Metallic blue turned red with rust, Pulled in close by the building's side, In a group all forgotten youth, Had to think, collect my senses now, Are turned on to a knife edged view Find some places where my friends don't know, And I was looking for a friend of mine, And had no time to waste. Yeah, looking for some friends of mine.
Down the dark streets, the houses looked the same, Getting darker now, faces look the same, And I walked round and round. No stomach, torn apart, Nail me to a train. Had to think again, trying to find a clue, trying to find a way to get out! Trying to move away, had to move away and keep out.

Linkin Park - Shadow of the Day
I close both locks below the window I close both blinds and turn away Sometimes solutions aren't so simple Sometimes goodbye's the only way
And the sun will set for you The sun will set for you And the shadow of the day Will embrace the world in grey And the sun will set for you Pink cards and flowers on your window Your friends all plead for you to stay Sometimes beginnings aren't so simple Sometimes goodbye's the only way
And the sun will set for you The sun will set for you And the shadow of the day Will embrace the world in grey And the sun will set for you
And the shadow of the day Will embrace the world in grey And the sun will set for you
And the shadow of the day Will embrace the world in grey And the sun will set for you

For no real reason, I feel like making a eulogy post dedicated to my favorite time period in music, ever. 1988-1995 or so.
God, I miss this time period in music. The 80's was over (I grew to appreciate 80's music but it took me a good 10 years after it was over to start getting interested in it) and the 90's didn't quite find a niche until 92 or so. So basically the airwaves was a combination of hair bands (in their final death throes), typical pop music (Madonna/M. Jackson/etc) and then all these weird, completely original sounds popping up all over. They all got lumped together as 'alternative' but there's a pretty massive variety of sounds in the genre. Anyways, a year or two after this video came out, Nirvana came along and turned the music world on it's ass. Hair bands were now officially dead, and there was a pretty kick ass period of 4-5 years to follow that had some really sick grunge stuff, as well as some really good britpop/alternative/whatever, and some really odd (yet GOOD) experimental stuff coming out.
Of course, the industry always eats itself, and once labels started *creating* their own alternative/grunge acts (to cash in) the whole thing was over. Still, that was a great 5 years or so where really really good, original music was brought to the masses and it was more or less untouched by the music industry.
Anyways, had to leave a metric SHIT TON of stuff out, but that's good enough for now I suppose.
WTB this kinda stuff on the radio again.

Thanks Grim, that'll do for today. I'll see about maintaining the theme this week. While in my later years (like you mentioned yourself) I grew to embrace music from a lot of other time periods, this period is what I really remember from my formative years when I actually started noticing music.

We'll see if Grim approves of my choice today.
Radiohead - Creep
When you were here before, Couldn't look you in the eye You're just like an angel, Your skin makes me cry
You float like a feather In a beautiful world I wish I was special You're so very special
But I'm a creep, I'm a weirdo What the hell am I doin' here? I don't belong here
I don't care if it hurts, I wanna have control I want a perfect body I want a perfect soul
I want you to notice when I'm not around You're so very special I wish I was special
But I'm a creep I'm a weirdo What the hell am I doin' here? I don't belong here, ohhhh, ohhhh
She's running out the door She's running out She run run run run... run...
Whatever makes you happy Whatever you want You're so very special I wish I was special
But I'm a creep, I'm a weirdo What the hell am I doin' here? I don't belong here
I don't belong here...

late 80s to the mid 90s was great for a few music genres. There was tons of Hiphop that wasnt about bragging about how much money you got or how many people you shot. It was about making good music and good vibes.

I was a total slacker last week. Here's Metal Monday and Tuesday....Tuesday. Unfortunately both of these videos have embedding disabled, but the videos for both are too good to post some random version here so take a hop over to youtube and watch them.
Megadeth - Sweating Bullets
Hello me... Meet the real me And my misfits way of life A dark black past is my Most valued possession Hindsight is always 20-20, But looking back it's still a bit fuzzy Speak of mutually assured destruction? Nice story... Tell it to Reader's Digest!
Chorus Feeling paranoid True enemy or false friend? Anxiety's attacking me, and My air is getting thin I'm in trouble for the things I haven't got to yet I'm chomping at the bit, and my Palms are getting wet, sweating bullets.
Hello me... It's me again You can subdue, but never tame me It gives me a migraine headache Thinking down to your level yea, just keep on thinking it's my fault And stay an inch or two outta kicking distance Mankind has got to know His limitations
Chorus Feeling claustrophobic Like the walls are closing in Blood stains on my hands and I don't know where I've been I'm in trouble for the things I haven't got to yet I'm sharpening the axe and my Palms are getting wet, sweating bullets
solo-dave
Well, me... it's nice talking to myself A credit to dementia Some day you too will know my pain And smile its blacktooth grin If the war inside my head Won't take a day off I'll be dead My icy fingers claw your back Here I come again
Chorus Feeling paranoid True enemy or false friend? Anxiety's attacking me And my air is getting thin Feeling claustrophobic Like the walls are closing in Blood stains on my hands and I don't know where I've been Once you committed me Now you've acquitted me Claiming validity For your stupidity I'm chomping at the bit I'm sharpening the axe Here I come again, whoa! Sweating bullets
Blind Melon - No Rain
Ooooo-oo-oo-oo-oo, oo-oo-oo-oo All I can say is that my life is pretty plain I like watching the puddles gather rain
And all I can do is just pour some tea for two And speak my point of view But it's not sane, it's not sane
I just want someone to say to me no, oh, oh, oh I'll always be there when you wake, yea-ah You know I'd like to keep my cheeks dry today So stay with me and I'll have it made
And I don't understand why I sleep all day And I start to complain that there's no rain And all I can do is read a book to stay awake And it rips my life away, but it's a great escape Escape......escape......escape......
All I can say is that my life is pretty plain You don't like my point of view You think that I'm insane It's not sane, It's not sane
I just want someone to say to me no, oh, oh, oh I'll always be there when you wake, yea-ah You know I'd like to keep my cheeks dry today So stay with me and I'll have it made
And I'll have it made And I'll have it made, oh Lord no no You know I'm really gonna, really gonna have it made You know I'll have it made Ahhh, ahhh, ahhh, ahhh
