Since we haven't had one of these for a while, and the last couple we had were a little...ya...I figured I'd have a go at it. We'll see how long I keep this up, should be a daily-ish update at least.
WARNING - This thread may cause whiplash, seizures or permanent brain damage due to sudden switches in gear - don't be surprised if I go from Led Zeppelin and Alice in Chains one day to Crystal Method and Garth Brooks the next, I'll be picking random songs from my music library and my tastes are pretty varied. MOST of it will probably fall under the general "rock" heading however.
*Edit: Since Most of my music will fall under some sort of "rock" heading I think for now I'm going to have two special days. Metal Mondays (self explanitory) and Freaky Fridays, which will be all the other/random/weird/funny/non-rockish type stuff. I don't plan on doing anything on the weekends.
So, let's start with one of my favorites.
In my time of dying, want nobody to mourn All I want for you to do is take my body home
Well, well, well, so I can die easy
Jesus, gonna make up my dyin' bed. Meet me, Jesus, meet me. Meet me in the middle of the air If my wings should fail me, Lord. Please meet me with another pair
Well, well, well, so I can die easy
Jesus, gonna make up.. somebody, somebody... Jesus gonna make up... Jesus gonna make you my dyin' bed
Oh, Saint Peter, at the gates of heaven... Won't you let me in I never did no harm. I never did no wrong
Oh, Gabriel, let me blow your horn. Let me blow your horn Oh, I never did, did no harm.
I've only been this young once. I never thought I'd do anybody no wrong No, not once.
Oh, I did somebody some good. Somebody some good... Oh, did somebody some good. I must have did somebody some good... Oh, I believe I did
I see the smiling faces I know I must have left some traces
And I see them in the streets And I see them in the field And I hear them shouting under my feet And I know it's got to be real Oh, Lord, deliver me All the wrong I've done You can deliver me, Lord I only wanted to have some fun.
Hear the angels marchin', hear the' marchin', hear them marchin', hear them marchin', the' marchin'
Oh my Jesus...
Oh, don't you make it my dyin', dyin', dyin'...cough

Couldn't help myself... there's just too many Canadians in this guild to NOT post this video.
Rucka Rucka Ali is like a dirtier, more racist, Weird Al Yankovic who uses mostly songs that are currently on top 40 hip hop stations. And yes, alot of his songs are racist, but he's racist against EVERYONE (white, black, mexican, middle eastern, french, chinese, jewish in the songs I've heard so far), because he's just screwing around and it's not meant to be taken seriously.
EDIT: The original song is Day N Night by Kid Cudi, in case you have never heard it or just can't place the beat or whatever.

Jethro Tull - Locomotive Breath
In the shuffling madness Of the locomotive breath Runs the all time loser Headlong to his death
Oh, he feels the piston scraping Steam breaking on his brow
Old Charlie stole the handle And the train, it won't stop going No way to slow down Oh, oh
He sees his children jumping off At stations one by one His woman and his best friend In bed an' having fun
Oh, he's crawling down the corridor On his hands and knees
Old Charlie stole the handle And the train, it won't stop going No way to slow down Yeah, yeah
He hears the silence howling And catches angels as they fall And the all time winner Has got him by the balls
Oh, he picks up Gideon's Bible Open at page one
I thank God, he stole the handle And the train, it won't stop going No way to slow down
No way to slow down No way to slow down No way to slow down No way to slow down No way to slow down

Time for Freaky Friday! Songs that don't fit under my general rock heading.
For this first one we have one of the groups I really consider to be at the core of my life soundtrack. Most people are probably more familiar with their first album Becoming X, from which the songs 6 Underground and Spin Spin Sugar got a bit of airplay. This is off their 3rd album, Bloodsport. After the first album Kelli Dayton was replaced by Chris Corner on vocals, which is why this song is lacking the female vocals many people know them for. Expect to see them again in this thread.
Sneaker Pimps - Bloodsport
I want to be a kid again Combed down hair and Sunday best See me staying out bunking school Knowing wrong from right just rules
I wish I'd never seen your face "Better door than window" phase I need an echo not your praise Straying from the point you nailed
My mother my mother my mother never told
My mother my mother my mother never told me Love is just a bloodsport
Sex and love is not a game A game is something you can win And maybe something kind of fun Cause love is just a bloodsport "son"

Sneaker Pimps are awesome. However, I'm one of those people who just didn't take the loss of Dayton well. I still love Becoming X. Supposedly the other stuff is just as good (better, some would say) but I just can't get into it. Part of what made me like them in the first place was the ethereal trip hop sound mixed with Dayton's vocals. 'Becoming X' is one of those albums I can listen to start-to-finish. Every song is really really good. It's one of those albums where I can't pick a favorite song.

When it happened I felt the same way, but after listening to Chris' stuff it's just as good IMO but in a different way. If you haven't I'd recommend acquiring the later stuff and giving it a listen with an open mind - treating it as it's own monster without comparing it to Dayton's stuff.

Time for Metal Monday!
For the first installment I'm going with some Krokus from 1983, mainly because the video for this one is awesome (awesomely bad or awesomely good, you choose).
Krokus - Screaming in the Night
Sons of vengeance, can you rescue me They got me tied up to a woe tree They had me screamin' and alone in the night I'm beginning to see what's wrong and what is right What is wrong and what is right, oh, what is wrong and what is ight
The gates was gettin' rusty, as we sailed into the dark The stars were out and shinin' against the moonlit hour The wolves were out and howlin', most of the time And I was cold and shiverin' and bleedin' in the night Bleedin' in the night, oh, bleedin' in the night
Screaming in the night, fighting for my life, I'd die for you I knew it all along, headed for the sun, our love was true (our love was true) Screaming in the night, fighting for my life, I'd die for you I knew it all along, headed for the sun, our love was true, oh
In the corner of the valley, we took him by surprise The sound of steel rang loud, above the battle cries I found her lying lifeless, dagger through her heart I picked her up, and held her high, and I swore to be avenged Swore to be avenged, oh swore to be avenged, oh
Screaming in the night, fighting for my life, I'd die for you I knew it all along, headed for the sun, our love was true (our love as true) Screaming in the night, fighting for my life, I'd die for you I knew it all along, headed for the sun, our love was true, oh Screaming in the night, fighting for my life, I'd die for you, oh I knew it all along, headed for the sun, our love was true (our love) Screaming in the night, fighting for my life, I'd die for you, oh I knew it all along, headed for the sun, our love was true, oh

From what I've seen/heard Josh Homme is a douchebag, but I really dig this band regardless. Anything Dave Grohl has touched at some point is golden to me.
Queens of the Stone Age - In the Fade
Cracks in a ceiling Crooked pictures in the hall Countin and breathin I'm leaving here tomorrow They don't know I'd never do you any good Laughin is easy I would if I could
Ain't gonna worry Just live till you die, wanna drown With nowhere to fall Into the arms of someone There's nothing to save and I know You live till you die
Live till you die, I know
Loosing a feelin that I couldn't give away Countin and breathin Disappearin in the fade They don't know I'd never do you any good Stoppin and stayin I would if I could
Ain't gonna worry Just live till you die, wanna drown With nowhere to fall Into the arms of someone There's nothing to save I know You live till you die
Live till you die, I know
Feel Good Hit of the Summer reprise: Nicotine, valium, vicodin, marijuana Ecstasy, and alcohol

Though a some of their lyrics/ideals are more militant than I prefer, they make some damned fine music.
NoFx - Idiots are Taking Over
it's not the right time to be sober now the idiots have taken over spreading like a social cancer, is there an answer?
Mensa membership conceding tell me why and how are all the stupid people breeding Watson, it's really elementary the industrial revolution has flipped the bitch on evolution the benevolent and wise are being thwarted, ostracized, what a bummer the world keeps getting dumber insensitivity is standard and faith is being fancied over reason
darwin's rollin over in his coffin the fittest are surviving much less often now everything seems to be reversing, and it's worsening someone flopped a steamer in the gene pool now angry mob mentality's no longer the exception, it's the rule and im startin to feel a lot like charlton heston stranded on a primate planet apes and orangutans that ran it to the ground with generals and the armies that obeyed them followers following fables philosophies that enable them to rule without regard
there's no point for democracy when ignorance is celebrated political scientists get the same one vote as some Arkansas inbred majority rule, don't work in mental institutions sometimes the smallest softest voice carries the grand biggest solutions
what are we left with? a nation of god-fearing pregnant nationalists who feel it's their duty to populate the homeland pass on traditions how to get ahead religions And prosperity via simpleton culture
the idiots are takin over [x8]

Punk in Drublic is still one of my favorite CDs. I like your music so far. It's stuff I've actually heard of, and not stuff with names like Bloody Vaginal Belch. Not that I don't like death metal, but it has to be in small doses.
