the simple theme is that they are all bands from the UK; but I don't think your that shallow, has to be more complex than that You fail because it's not Friday yet and therefore too soon to post and U2 is from Ireland, not the UK.

Here we go day 5 of the contest. I'm assuming it's pretty obvious by this point but let's see. It's also Freaky Friday!
Johnny Cash - Personal Jesus
Your own, personal, Jesus someone to hear your prayers, someone who cares
Your own, personal, Jesus someone to hear your prayers, someone who's there
Feeling unknown and you're all alone, flesh and bone, by the telephone, lift up the receiver, i'll make you a believer
Take second best, put me to the test, things on your chest, you need to confess, i will deliver, you know i'm a forgiver
Reach out and touch faith Reach out and touch faith
Your own, personal, Jesus someone to hear your prayers, someone who cares
Your own, personal, Jesus someone to hear your prayers, someone to care
Feeling unknown and you're all alone, flesh and bone, by the telephone, lift up the receiver, i'll make you a believer i will deliver, you know i'm a forgiver
Reach out and touch faith Reach out and touch faith Reach out and touch faith
Reach out and touch faith

After doing a little research on one of the bands, I know the theme for certain. However, I can only link 4/5 songs to it. The one I'm missing COULD be a match but you'd have to take the song out of context, so I dunno if that counts. I won't say anything yet since I don't know how one video relates for sure.

Still Friday for me... I grew up listening to Johnny Cash too, I just didn't know it hehe. It's not like my father tried to sell the music to me in a way that it would appeal to me either. Anyways, it's freaky that I know this song word for word, no matter what day of the week it is.
EDIT: Trying to find the theme to your contest but I'm beat ><

I didn't really consider context, so if it seems obvious it probably is. It actually sounds like you're not hung up on the one I thought folks would be.

Alright, here's my guess then. The theme is Jesus. As to how (I think) they relate:
1. Judas Priest = Judas was the betrayer of Jesus 2. U2 = This is the one I'm not sure about. The lyrics of most of the song could relate to Jesus but that song is actually about MLK. 3. Crass = The album that song is from is called Christ: The Album 4. The Beatles = 'Christ you know it aint easy' is repeated throughout the song, also reference to crucification. 5. Johnny Cash = Personal JESUS
