Yeah. I thought there was something a little strange about the way your wyvern curls up at your feet while you're resting HP/MP...

LOL...
It's true. I've gone my entire FFXI career using only functional, relevant /party say in my macros... usually in auto-trans and organized so european or japanese players can understand them clearly.
Then I started leveling Dark sub.
I'm ashamed to admit even my impeccible taste has fallen to the point of using super-cheesy emo-wannabe macros like "Ripping it up with {Slice} in 2!" or "This will be the final strike."
I have to get this job to 37 as quickly as possible and get the FUCK away from it. Next thing I know, I'll wake up after a night of drunk partying on RDM and find /party text for my cure macros like, "May the divine light of Altana heal your wounds and rest your weary spirit!" Please guys. Promise me something. If it ever comes to that... kill me.

The only time inadequate spelling skills have killed me was when I logged back into GC with a level 31 Paladin and no macros, after having just disconnected. Naturally, I spawned in front of a beetle and I mistyped '/ja "Invincible" <me>' Yeah, in hindsight, I probably should have just used the ability from the menu, but I typically type faster than I can pull something out of the menu... so...

They're time consuming, and they REQUIRE *EVERYONE* to be both adequately prepared and compitent, two crucial factors which the majority of players lack.

I'm the same way, mostly... I don't really consider them cheating, because people play the same game for different reasons... but one of the factors I enjoy most is the challenge in a game, and generally, unless I encounter something completely show-stopping (like that $@*! point in Final Fantasy Tactics where you have to restart your game file if you haven't taught Ramza auto-potion, because after 12 consecutive tries with an otherwise overpowered main character he still died in three turns on the boss fight) I try to resolve it on my own first.
For others, they're most interested in getting through the game as quickly as possible, either because they want to hurry and see what lies ahead in the story, or simply because they don't have the time to replay the same part of a game 20 times to figure it out on their own. Different strokes for differeny folks, I suppose.

[threadjack] I think I can basically sum up my entire argument by saying: [/threadjack] This game throws challenges at you that practically beg for solutions like that. Players will always find solutions to problems that the original developers did not intend. It crosses over into the realm of being an exploit when it gives a player or specific group of players access to a set of favorable circumstances that have a direct impact on gameplay, and cannot be achieved by anyone else not using this method.

I'm not trying to condemn either of you for your opinion, but by your definition of exploit, Bridger, are we to assume that if someone is doing something that is obviously not intended by the dev team and it does violate the ToS, it's not an exploit? lol
I understand what you guys are saying, and I agree with you.
I get so many people that "look down on me" for using windower. Why? What inherant advantage does that give me that allows me to perform something on my job that you can't? I'm not a better player because I have windower. Unfortuntately, not everyone will see eye to eye on this. I suppose that's too bad for them.

We didn't know eachother well, but I'm always sad to see an Orphan go...
I'm sorry for what happened, Stahn, whatever it was, and I'm sure that you have your own valid reasons for feeling that you need to leave. Good luck to you in your future endeavours, and remember to have fun.

I'd assume not, if it involves hate swapping... It's still possible, I'd imagine, but the constant running around from the mob would make actually hitting it with any degree of accuracy or damage control next to impossible..

To give you an idea of how big a clusterfuck the ferry areas are... you know how if you're standing at the AH in jeuno and you're trying to get to a counter, you have to "push" your way through the crowd by pressing the run forward key/joypad for like 3-4 seconds?
It took me over 20 seconds to even MOVE in the crowd that gathered after getting off the boat. Another minute to get out of the crowd. It's that bad.
