Coming Soon!Excellent book, looks like the movie should be pretty true to form. The book is not as chick flick as it seems from the outside, so guys, you may get some points with the Girlfriends for this too ^^ _Code

I want to see this movie too..but as I told Code..I have a problem with a Chinese actor playing a Japanese person. Zhang Ziyi is awesome..but she is Chinese...now Ken Watanabe is cool as hell so I'm glad he is in this move.

Looks pretty good, but I really hate it when previews steal music from other movies. I happened to have the Last Samurai soundtrack playing at the time before I watched the preview (love that movie), and I almost turned the preview off when one of my favorite songs from the movie started playing during it.
It's the same way with music from Dragonheart... like eight or nine years ago, damn near every preview used music from Dragonheart. I got pissed off about it then, and it still pisses me off.

HAHAHAHAHAHHA I noticed the same thing with Dragonheart music. (another awesome movie btw) The Last Samurai music is used on alot of previews. However its almost justified I guess. Ken Watanabe (Katsumoto in Last Samurai) plays in both movies hehe

Saying a preview "Steals music from other movies" is kind of redundant..... Ultimately you could say "I hate it when previews steal music from recording artists". hehe
Not to mention every movie since 1985 has stolen the same guy to do the voice for the synopsis during the trailer.

Well he's not stolen, that's his job. There's three or four guys that are simply "preview guys." They do the voice-overs for every preview; if you notice, it's almost always the same guy doing the horror movie previews -- that guy with the really deep, I've-been-chainsmoking-for-forty-years voice.
And as for the music thing, the way I see it, if a rock song or any other kind of pop culture song is being played in the preview, that's cool -- it's not tied to any one thing in particular, except the band or artist that performed it. But taking music that was composed specifically for another movie is really friggin' weak. What, the movie you're previewing doesn't have a soundtrack of its own that you can use music from? Gotta take it from someone else's movie? That's just not cool, man. I have a seriously hard time believing that they have that much of the movie available for a preview and no music to go with it.

Y'know, Takeshi Kaneshiro played a Chinese guy in House of Flying Daggers, when he's obviously not Chinese. You can tell that by taking just one look at him. (he's a total pimp, by the way) Ken Watanabe, yeah, he's a really good actor. I'm glad he's getting the attention he is, because he deserves it.

PS, if I had a nickle for every time someone has jacked a John Williams theme for another movie, or done a crummy splice job for it, i'd have enough money to buy 5 million gil on IGE. Ppl borrow music that represents the appropriate mood, usually because at the time of the ad blitz, the score is not finished. The score is the last piece of the puzzle put in next to the final special effects and the final editing cuts.
so, yeah..
anyways, i want to read that book though. I see ppl on the subway reading it, and it intrigues me.
