In honor of all the Raid deaths that are yet to come...
...It's probably a good thing I'm not playing a Warlock. Clearly, I'm not to be trusted with Life Tap...

Don't worry.
I'd find a way.
As for bumping it, I accidentally stumbled into this thread the other day and felt obligated to share.

What was your rancor hate? Didn't everyone's grudge hit you for like 5000 HP?

This brings back memories. My first Convert death came in Gustav tunnel at about lv 45'sh?? Idk been a long time, I know one of them stupid crabs did the water sprout thingy and got me..... After leaving FF and getting into EQ2 and then WOW for a good period and now that I don't play any RPG at all, I have to say FFXI is THE BEST MMORPG I've ever played. A little hardcore, yes and it had many flaws, but no game ever immersed me in it's world like FFXI did. IMO the party system in FFXI was the best of any game so far, while some hated it and still do, you didn't need any "add ons" or anything else to see who could play this game and who sucked. And while being able to solo for xp is nice, it's a more satisfying experience to play with other people.(ALthough lfg as some jobs was...yea...poor thf's, drg's, and dkn's ) I think when the next ff online comes out will be the next time I play a MMORPG, whenever the hell that is, I'm guessing another two years. If they can balance out the jobs so every job is desirable and they cut down the camping(an hour at the most for mobs to spawn, not 20+ like some mobs, ala charby and some others) and keep everything else the same it would be an amazing game.

Should mention here that someone with extremely high HP had like 2k health in FFXI.

I too was completely immersed in FFXI for awhile. No game has ever sucked me in the way FFXI did. It was my first MMO, and really the first game I ever played online in any capacity, so that is a big reason why. I logged into Vana'diel for the first time five years ago, and there's probably a dozen people I still talk to that I met the first week of the game. It definitely forced you to socialize. It is a brilliant world with a brilliant story, and the party system was great, aside from balance issues. SE stood to the side and let RMT ruin the economy and the game, and they also didn't adjust endgame so that everyone could be a part of it (claim system and 24 hour pops = ridiculous).

Yeah, I feel the same way Locke... I never played many games or online games and FFXI just completely sucked me in. I still talk with all you guys, some of which I've known for 5 years or so. Its crazy and it had an amazing setup but I do feel like SE was static for most of the time I played, they did little things but they weren't dynamic enough to address the issues with RMT and endgame like you said... Your post hit the nail on the head for me.
