The original NWN was an incredible single-player experience that was more than worth the cost of admission. One of the things that made it so incredible, though, was the fantastic online support and bundled development tools.
It was entirely possible to make persistant online worlds with most of the trappings of conventional MMOs, including trade skills, named monsters, ect.
The only real downfall was that most of these servers were run on private servers from someone's basement, meaning you either had to be very close geographically to the server to get a decent ping, or it only supported like 12 people at once.
One of the best servers I joined had a VERY active Role-playing scene, however, with at least 3 GMs on at any time specifically to run stories with groups. It was one of the best online gaming experiences I've ever had.
NWN2? Not sure about that, never had the time or money to pick it up...

I played NWN as well i enjoyed it, I also played Maple Story its just a slow 2-D MMO for if u ever want to just randomly kill shit and later on test ur skills with kill stealing, there are quest in the game i just never got around to it and didn't really know what i was doing but it was still fun lol has silly little anime faces as well its an ok game but like jon said or whom ever its a girly MMO!

So is Ragnarok Online, but it's much more complex. I suppose both have their own individual charms (like being able to just jump into Maple and play when you want.)
