100% backwards compatible with PS1 and PS2.
Apparently there will be additional memory card readers you can purchase seperately. It just means to transfer saves..you will have to buy this add on.
You can save the game to the Hard Drive after that.

lol course the ones u buy will prolly be broke ass peices of shit. which is one of the reasons im gonna hold off close to a year b4 i buy this time so i dont end up with some 600$ lump of shit that has some tech flaw in it an then sony charges like 200$ or some shit to fix their own fuck up. thanks but not this time

Sony wont' charge for repairs. I got a PS2 replaced after the warranty expired for free from Sony. If people don't buy it when its released...it won't be worth buying later..because support will be gone.

It would be illegal for them to. Lawsuits galore. Hell the Xbox 360 has lawsuits and they repaired for free lol.

I had a series 1 PS2, where, iirc it was the Lens that went on it. I let my cousin borrow it, because it was still functional; and he was able to do a warranty claim on it. This was several years after release, with no reciepts or packaging. Free. He didn't even have to pay for shipping.
I can't say this wasn't an isolated incident; as I work in an industry that deals with warranty alot. And more recently have been on the receiving end of warranty issues with my car; but if its someting thats blatently not your fault, they'd have to fix it, unless they can come up with a reason why its your fault.

I've cleaned my lens twice on my PS2. Just recently as a matter of fact. It's just a pain in the ass getting the small screws off. It was a poor design, collecting dust everywhere inside there, and people have bitched about it since PS2 came out. (I imagine the new, slimmer PS2's have done something to correct it). Anyway, I've heard of guys making good money just buying people's "broken" PS2's, cleaning the lens, and reselling the now functional model.

PS3 is gonna be a great system no doubt but whats gonna kill it is its price. i heard games are gonna be 70 a piece and controllers are gonna be 50-55. And from what i understand memory cards are being replaced with memory sticks.

PS3's price is a little high but worth it. The games will be standard 60 for third part, 50 for first party. THe controllers are rumored to be 50 which is the same as the 360 and they will not be using memory sticks...It comes with a Hard Drive. All games will be saved on it. You could use standard memory cards like Pro Duo that the PSP uses.

I never thought about it that way. i mean yea a blu-ray player is 1000 bucks and i guess you are getting a bundle deal. im gonna wait for the price to drop to get one though. plus its gonna be really hard to get one at launch.

Waiting for price drops hurt the manufacturers. If they dont' sell well from the start..it won't be worth getting one later. Ofcourse you should never buy one if you don't like any games for it. But if there are games for it, and you can afford it, and you want it...don't wait..support your favorite console manufacterer.
