Very expensive...and the worse news is Gamestop and EB are saying they will not do preorders. Other companies who originally took names for preorders are cancelling them left and right. It seems each store will be getting 5-10 total.
Be prepared to order large bundles from the websites or camp out at Wal-Mart for 24+ hours.

This doesnt support FFXI tho right? atleast thats what i think i've overheard. Aye, that what it seems like so far. There has been no word as of yet, "The PS3 will support FFXI" so, buy an XBOX360 .... evil Bill Gates. |

Sony announced they will not support FFXI. However they are working on a new SE release MMORPG that is said to be PS3 and PC exclusive.

I agree the price is wayyy too high. But you'd need almost double to get a decent computer. Mine was $1200 and is really nice, so exactly double.
I think the bigger problem will be that every store is only going to get 5-7 units, and noone is doing preorders. I dont have my hopes up real high to have a PS3 in 2006 ;;

They are doing a world wide release as well. That could be part of it to. Japan gets 1 week before the rest of us. Any idea how much games are gonna cost? $60 for a game I'll probably play 60 hours is to much imho.

60 for 1st party.. 70 for third party games.
Did you know with current inflation the PS2 would be 448 dollars today?
The price is fine IMHO. Especially for what it does. It will sell out instantly....Sony knows this. They are still taking a 300 dollar loss per system.
Did you know to play modern games on PC smoothly....a video card averages 400-700 dollars? Not including the rest of the PC.
And a stand alone Blu-Ray Player is 1000 dollars.
You are definetly getting a deal..but its sort of a bundle deal..so I understand peoples "eh" feelings...I just personally feel its worht it.

lol no shit, ur gonna hafta get premium package, wtf kinda option is basic. that thing isnt an option imo. though i could give a rats ass about wi fi. lol an 60 hours on games lol only if they make some quality shit too many games now are all jus pretty things that take like less than 12 hours an thats to do everything possible about.

So FFXI won't be released for PS3 but is the system still compatible with the PS2 version?
