At the Shibuya Tsutaya Final Fantasy XII launch event, when Square Enix president Yoichi Wada was asked about the existence of a Final Fantasy VII remake on PS3, he smiled and mentioned that such remake is likely to happen with a large demand, but it is very difficult, the company is currently examining the possibilities. Over one year ago a japanese website did mention that FF7 was in the works of being remade for the PS3. Same story line just bumped up graphics. I think they might bring it out.

I dunno if anything on this was updated, but from what i read, theyre not changing the game at all. The FMV scenes (i think thats what theyre called) will be remade, not much change other than up to date graphics. But the game itself was supposed to remain almost exactly the same, besides just looking better overall. I dunno that kinda dissapoints me. I mean it's a good thing, but somethiong about the 90% of the game your running around as midget people like the old school FF's, but in battles your normal, i didnt like it. The old school FFs were the same all the way through, and since 8 (excluding 9) they were all normal proportion. call me lame but i think a remake of this would be cool if it were mroe like 8 was as far as trucking through towns and dungeons. Regardless i'll prolly get it anways. This game was my favorite, with X being a very close seccond. And no i dont count ffxi because i hate this game, im just far to addicted to ever quit lol.

Sorry I can't agree there tachi. FF6 is one of the best video games EVER. But...Cloud is the best good guy ever and Seph is easily the best bad guy. Just FF7 rules.

Bah, as much as I loved the hell out of FF7, I always thought the story was a bit overrated... I just didn't really like the presentation of Cloud or Sephiroth's backstory, to me it came off seeming shallow. I did like the character detail they put into Cid and Nanaki.
Then you look at FF6. In a time where RPGs were just starting to take on that 'epic' feel and present marvelous, intricately woven storylines with detailed characters, FF6 practically pioneered it. Almost every character of that game has a story that ties in with the overlying storyline, and most of them are brilliantly presented. I just felt a much stronger connection to them.
Clearly, now that the lines have been drawn between those wanting to see an FF7 remake and those hoping for FF6, there is only one solution.
S-E will just have to get off their asses and make a remake for both. XD

XD +1 But, SE has already done a "remake" of 6, it was more of a port to PS1 with some minor touch ups, but nothing to write home about. Going along the same lines, if SE "remakes" 7, I think it would be along the same lines as the remake of 6. A makeover, but still the same game on the inside. But, they could prove us all wrong, listen to the masses and make some money...

Final Fantasy Anthology was more of a port than an update... the only thing they really added were the GS cutscenes at the end of the game. :/
