hehe sorry but I prefer a challenge on all aspects. I'm rather enjoying FFXI's screwed up economy (player driven and caused) as well as some of the more rare aspects of the game.

oh I dunno...I dont think the economy is player 'driven and caused' unless by that you mean Gilselling. >.>;;
and god it hasn't gotten better.
it's getting to the point it's rediculous. Did everyone buy themselves Gil for christmas or what? shame shame

Nope, it hasn't gotten better. Worse if anything, but people just see the high price tags of the things they want, and not the high selling price of the things they have. Its part of the dynamic of the game that keeps it free flowing and interesting.
Otherwise it'd just stagnate.
Anyway, I digress, I know after FFXI I wont be doing another MMORPG..... I'm running this til its time for me to put Codeine to rest, then i'm back to console games.

Gilsellers are only part of the problem. The prices of most items are generated by average players......whatare there....300 gilsellers to the 5000 players on titan? The economy is about 85% player driven since most items/consumeables are sold and bought by the players. Gilselling/buying has inflated the economy some..but the economy plateued for the past year. So obviously there are other underlying problems. Its simple greed. Its simple necessity.

On a thread on another forum (general gaming, non-FFXI), someone brought up FFXI as an example of a player-driven economy.
Someone else disagreed, saying FFXI wasn't a player-driven economy, it was a farmer (as in gilseller) driven economy.
I think I sort of agree.

I have to agree as well.
FFXI is Gilseller driven. Sure, players attribute to it as well...but think of it this way. If Gilsellers hadn't been there to drive up the price. there is no way a pair of leaping boots would sell for 4 MILLION
iRO had Zen sellers, and I can tell you items were ridiculously priced as well. some going for upwards of 30 million zeny.
This server HAS no zen-sellers. The rarest item obtainable in the game goes for 1-3 million.
one tenth (at it's most!) of the price with the sellers. so TRY to tell me that economy isn't sellerbased
If there aren't gilsellers, there's not megaloads of Gil. People cant sell things for those prices. No one would buy.

My problem with "unofficial" MMORPG servers are that you don't know when the owner will pull the plug. There goes your character and all the countless hours you invested in it.

I dont think this one will be going down in the forseeable future. Infact there's plans of upgrading it.
You've got pleanty of time to level to your heart's content.
