Best "Good Guy" of video games

I'd have to say Fayt Leingod, Cliff Fittir, and Albel Nox from Star ocean 3 (til the end of time)

To discover their parts in the greater plan, to know what was happening around them and to still keep fighting...that took serious gonads.

Plus they're pretty much the most badass characters in the game. I mean COME ON!

Fayt found out he was some genetic guinea pig from birth, and still went out to save his family (not that they didn't end up dying anyway...) PLUS Fayt could teleport across the damn battlefield and bash you upside the head with his sword (saved MY ass many a time)

Albel survived a dragon blast, and moved on as a swordsman with a bionic arm, lost his dad in the blast, and did what he felt like, Albel was just badass looking, and had some serious stat-reducing attacks. (another ass saver...) He did what he thought was right, and had no inhibitions about who/what stood in his way.

And Cliff? He's just funny as hell...to keep a smartass, yet amused look at things even when they got down to the very end, that takes some serious skill, and a damn high cool-factor

Fayt and cliff are restrained on an alien world, arms behind their backs and the conversation goes as follows.

Cliff: Oh...you woke up didja?
Fayt: ...why didn't we run?
Cliff: eh, too much trouble, they woulda caught us anyway, and I didn't feel like hurting em...besides...I wanted to find out something...
Fayt: *stares at him for a moment, before blinking and raising an eyebrow* ....find out what?
Cliff: If the whips on this planet hurt too.
Fayt: -.-;; well?
Cliff: Yup...they do.

Oh ho ho... if that's all you had spoiled for you, you're lucky Kai. Trust me, after... say... disc 2... you'll PRAY for something that makes sense. Albel was awesome... but Fayte simply kicked so much ass with a good skillset it broke the game at several points. Seriously. You should not be able to beat a level 70+ dungeon using only Fayte at level 32.

lmao, me too... it's not worth it until you get a few specific characters though. Honestly, the main characters are only good at synthing specific items - you need to wait until you get some of the special non-playable support characters later in the game to make anything worth your money. I DO remember making some armor that was waaaaaaaay above the stats of anything they were using at the time, as well as gauntlets for cliff... but it took so much time and money it wasn't really worth it.

Later in the game is when it gets absurd, spend some time farming money and... you can LITERALLY have a sword that regenerates your health at the rate and has a +2500 attack bonus. At level 32. Broken. They needed a lot more playtesting for the balancing on the game... but otherwise, I loved everything right up to the second disc.

But that's the point of console RPG's -- have difficulties early on, and then later on you completely destroy the game. Didn't any of you ever take Tidus through 100% of the Sphere Grid in FFX? Or how about wasting time breeding chocobos to get a gold one, so you could get Knights of the Round? Even better, how about going after all six Master-grade materia, or just Mimicking a level 4 limit break for an entire fight?
Or, even better -- how about playing through Chrono Trigger with Crono, Marle and Ayla, doing their triple tech (forgot the name of it) through the latter part of the game?

Hell, name a console RPG you can't break in a ridiculous fashion without even using a cheat device.
