Yea I was really scared of the controller until I found this picture. I disliked it very much..but does look comfortable at least now.
and it should come in black, silver and white...as the system itself will come in those colors on release.

Its had such a negative reaction from the public I presume they're going to change it whether or its comfy or not

Actually they released a statement that they have no intention of revamping the design. Also I've tested out this gif on a couple of forums and its getting a much more accepted response. I personally hated the design but feel its gonna be better after seeing this.

Ya but people who aren't hardcore gamers dont like it and a big percentage of people who have ps2 only have them cuz its the coolest of the three, most people who aren't really into games think its lame and sony cant really afford to lose that market right now, they need the people that buy a ps2 then ONLY buy GTA

PS3 will sell regardless. Unlike Xbox...Sony isn't charging fee's for third party developers. There will be a slew of 3rd party controllers for PS3 and Xbox there will be 0 unless Mad Katz wants to pay for it.

I also felt this way about the controller. It just looks cheaply made. Like if I dropped it the thing would smash like a $15 Wal-Mart "special".
It just looks so light and fragile.......... sure hope its made of some hardcore plastic.
Yea that picture does make it look a little more welcome though.

Developers are already complaining about how hard it is to program for the ps3 and lets not forget the money trouble sony is having right now.

Anyone know of the ALPS company? Forget what it stands for, but back in the PSX (PS1) days, before the dual shocks were released they made a controller that was roughly this size and shape. Was the best all digital controller Ive ever used. Then the dual shocks came out and ALPS never made an updated controller. Once people start holding this, Im sure it will do fine. All it really is, is a dual shock thats been enlarged and curved a bit more.
