Go go Buffalo! We can handle 2 feet of snow just fine, but trees that haven't lost their leaves yet can't. Power lines down everywhere... It was a small miracle I made it through Dynamis last night. My power went out at 1am EST, and now they're saying it might not be back on until Tuesday... When I looked out my apartment window last night, I couldn't believe what I saw. All the tree branches were covered with snow and either hanging to the ground or broken off. Wish I had a camera, but I'm sure a lot of amazing photographs will be on the web soon.

"On Thursday, 8.3 inches of heavy snow set the record for the "snowiest" October day in Buffalo in the 137-year history of the weather service, said meteorologist Tom Niziol. The previous record of 6 inches was set October 31, 1917." Is it still snowing? The story on CNN seemed to say it was

It continued to snow through the night, until about a half hour ago. Sun is shining now, and it's finally starting to melt. There's still a complete driving ban (which I ignored and drove to work this morning). Luckily the power has stayed on here.
There's semis jacknifed on the thruways, drivers stranded everywhere, every cop and tow truck and state policeman is on the road dealing with emergencies. Airport closed. Power companies are bringing in people from all over New England to help get the power back up. Water authority says not to use any water due to pumping stations without power. They're pushing to make Western New York a federal disaster area.
I might drive to Pittsburgh and hang out there for the weekend...if I can get out!

Now now, it's not that bad. 2nd largest city in New York, and aside from January and February the weather isn't so bad. People are largely misinformed about the city. I've been asked by salesmen on the phone "Does Buffalo have an airport?" and "Is there snow in the summer?" ;D en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buffalo%2C_New_York#Climate

They got killed >< A few people I know have their power back on back in Buffalo, hopefully mine is too. Otherwise I'll just go into work (which never lost power) and play FFXI all night ^^
