soccernet.espn.go.com/worldcup/fixtures?view=date&cc=5901After 4 years, the great tournament is finally back. I know many don't care much for the sport but if you give it a chance I promise you won't be dissapointed. I partly placed this here for quick access to the schedule when I need it. The sole reason I posted this is because I will be watching all 64 matches over the next month thanks to my dvr recorder. I'll try to make events but everything inbetween will more than likely suffer.

Aside from the last couple years, I've played recreationally or competively since I was 4 years old.

Any interest I would have had in it has been completely diminished by XM playing a PSA for it repetatively; that starts with an obnoxious Airhorn.
Apparently XM radio is doing full coverage of it, devoting a couple channels to 24 hour coverage. I'm so sick and fucking tired of hearing the Airhorn, and then about FIFA, and what the Germans are doing bla bla bla. Can't wait til its over.
Salut to those that like it, but I can't stand repetative PSA's.

High-kicking, low scoring, and ties? You bet!
I do so love the world cup, though. It's almost on par with the Olympics. GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Deutschland!

Booooooo Deutschland!
I know I know. They're not a great team. The rest of the world looks down on them. THey get booed at, heckled, stuff throw at them. But I still gotta root for the U.S. team.
Someday we'll win the world cup and it's gonna be sweet.

They're also the only team using an unmarked bus while travelling in Germany. Idk if its coincidence or not but the media has not disclosed what German city they're training and camped at this past week. Even FSC doesn't mention a thing.

Actually, the U.S. team is ranked 5th in the world going into this world cup... above Germany, Italy, and France. The FIFA/Coca-Cola World Cup Rankings as of May 2006 are: 1 BRAZIL 2 Czech Republic 3 Netherlands 4 Mexico 5 United States Spain 7 Portugal 8 France 9 Argentina 10 England 11 Nigeria Denmark 13 Italy 14 Turkey 15 Cameroon 16 Sweden 17 Egypt 18 Japan 19 Germany 20 Greece
(you can see these on the front page of any team page at www.worldcup.com, but they're nicely summarized by a wikipedia article at en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FIFA_World_Rankings

Today's following and interest for the sport was largely influenced by '94 cup hosted here in the states. I highly doubt the U.S. would be where they are today without that.
