I left the game for roughly 9 months. I let Tempus hold MILLIONS in equipment. He put it on his mule and guess what? He sat it there. He even knew EXACTLY what belonged to me. He didn't even have to ask me what belonged to me. The mere notion that Tempus could be stealing from the bank sickens me. You know who it makes me want to throw up on? All you doubting naysayers that are so full of shit that your eyes are popping out. I'm tired of it. So, nobody doubt Tempus anymore. It's stupid. Don't even continue to entertain the notion that he would take anything from any of us unless we expressed to him that he should have it. In fact, I told him if he wanted the space he could turn my equipment into gil for himself. He's put this LS before himself so many times it's not even funny. He was similarly active in the administration of ED before that. Tempus is born to lead a ls, it's the way he's built. I doubt there is a thieving bone in his body.

I'm a newer member and I've noticed... and tried to relate that information to others. I have never seen anything to indicate Tempus has ever put his personal interests before the shell. Ever.
Day in and day out, the man shows up to and helps co-ordinate events he has absolutely no personal interest in, and I have never once heard him bitch about it. He has to put up with a lot of shit from people, and while he may not do it with a smile - he never throws his problems on others. On top of that, any time something goes wrong, he's expected to answer for it.
Honestly, if he's not here for the members - why do you think he's here? That goes for our sack-holders too. I'm also sick of people that can't even show a little respect for the time and committment these people have made so that we, the members, have events to attend and are mostly free to do what we want between.
Having been a full-time shell leader for a fairly large shell before, let me explain something to those of you who haven't had that experience:
Being a leader in a social organization is fairly easy, you co-ordinate invitations/recruitment, help mediate problems as they crop up, and ocassionally set up events.
Being a leader in a large, social environment where five or six different events are co-ordinated a week is a totally different ballgame. When you make this type of committment to the players, you sacrifice almost all freetime that you have available in the game, so that others can enjoy themselves in your place. It doesn't make you rich, and for the most part, very few people will openly show appreciation for what you do. Why would you possibly want to subject yourself to this then? Because you enjoy helping others. Because to you, sacrificing some free time is worth it if it makes the game a better place for all of your members.
For people throwing childish insults and he-said she-said accusations over incredibly petty differences of personal opinion, it's time to grow up. Put yourself in their shoes for a minute and maybe you'll understand.

The sad part about it...this will fall on deaf ears.
People have already decided who they are going to stand by, who they are going to support. With just a small whisper of mistrust, look at what it did. The people that left thinking that there was truth to it...didn't know Tempus. That's it.
When you spend so much time with people (yes, even in a game), you have the chance to form an opinion about thier personality. Tempus is, without a doubt, one of the most selfless people I know in ffxi. But each person had to come to a conclusion about personalities...without ever getting to know the person.
*sighs* Hopefully...this will all blow over. I want to have fun again. I want EO to have fun again. This is a shadow we don't need.

I will have fun as long as my friends are in EO, we will get the membership back up enough to do everything again. I like all those events, I'll be to all the ones I can be. This ls is one of the few that asks that you put your rl before your game life. I'm not signing on at 3AM on a worknight just because Fanir's window is open. They can kiss my ass. EO is the place to be for sure.
