So... I decided to hawk my Astrals. I sold one off immediately when I got my Tamas and I hesitated for a long ass time before I decided to sell the second... I finally decide to put it up on AH and like 10 ppl throw up Astral Rings, I get undercut and it gets sent back...
So I put them back up... I wanted to put them up for 1 210 010... Instead I put them up for
210 010
DAMNIT!!!!!!!!! Lucky for me, he bid 1 mill... So I at least got the 1 mill for them...

>Phew<
One thing; and I dont understand why every mage doesn't do this, Astrals, even when they were around 2 million, still are no match to an Ether Ring to high level mages. Ether rings were running 700k when Astrals were 2.2 million. I realize its only 5mp, but as Elvaan SMN, every drop counts.

and i wish someone would do something like that when I'm randomly bidding on a noble's tunic... don't we all ^^ Glad they didn't screw you out of much, Markus. The reason people scramble for Astrals over Ethers or Electrums is because you can wear the Astrals @ lvl 10, instead of 40.

lol mark, you got lucky. Aegnor is a known AH pwner. He will sit for hours and bit 1/10 then 1/4 then 1/2 of the 'going' price of everything expensive on the AH. It's worked for him in the past.
I guess getting an AH pwn is about as good as an NM?

Yeah Aly, thats why I said High levels, I suppose on Capped its sweet, but meh; I try to stay out of capped whenever possible
Actually Corran, Thats a proven method of making money. I used to to do it constantly and made well over a million in a week. Given, its 1) Time Consuming 2) not always profitiable 3) more luck based then HNM camping. But it does work, and for those of us that dont have time to farm, Farming the AH works very well.
Try it for a week, write down how much you bought the item for, how much you spend relisting it, and how much it sells for, very good profit maker. I know some people that claim they've made millions and completely finance their jobs doing it. There's a couple hints and secrets to doing it more effectively, but still, great money maker.

Glady you didn't get screwed too badly I've overbid 3 times: 1. November '03, I bid 10,000 gil on a pair of 1,000 gil gloves...I wanted to cry. Didn't know enough to send the seller a /tell. I was devastated! 2. Sometime in late '04: I bid 750,000 on a 75,000 gil Survival Belt. Seller was Kageski (75 RNG/NIN/SMN of AoV fame) who gladly returned my gil after a /tell. 3. A few months ago I bid 1.5 mil on a NIN toolbag going for 150k. The seller returned my gil a few days later, to my surprise. Forget who it was.

I know some people that claim they've made millions and completely finance their jobs doing it. Gil depreciates, loses value over time. Items appreciate, and become more expensive over time. Which is why it's a bad idea to horde large amounts of gil. Keep your gil in items. (Only exception to the model was the year-end gilseller purge / IGE nerf). Twix once decided to buy a lot of scarce THF items, and resold them at 3-4x what he paid, making at least 10 million in one week, which was worth a lot more then than it is now. It's easy to monopolize the uncommon items and up their price. It's just a nasty thing to do =/ Vaine has also done this to more than one job.
