"While rumors began circulating earlier this month, Warner made official today its plans to develop a live action Mortal Kombat digital series.
Most details from the initial report remain the same. The series will be directed by Kevin Tancharoen (Fame), who is responsible for the Mortal Kombat: Rebirth short that garnered attention from fans (in the way of 10 million views) and Warner alike.
Shooting will take place in Vancouver in early February, with the series slated to release via “online retailers” this spring. The release window positions the series to nicely co-promote the newest MK game, which was recently announced as hitting retail on April 19.
Described as an “anthology of multiple live action shorts,” deep character profiles are promised for the likes of Liu Kang, Johnny Cage, Scorpion, and more.
Warner says more casting details will be made available in the coming weeks.
If you happened to miss the original fan short, get a taste of what you’re in for below."
