As promised... I finally have an internet connection, so here's a quick shout-out to everyone in EO and an update on where I am right now.
Arrived in San Angelo after some major hang-ups at the airport in Newark... Continental bumped my connecting flight to a plane that was scheduled to leave before I even got there, forcing me to change my entire itinerary and pay for a hotel out of pocket. They claimed that since the change in schedule was due to weather conditions, they WILL NOT reimburse me in any form - even though it's plainly obvious to any moron with an IQ of 60 or higher that if they change my flight plans to an impossible time without even contacting me - they're at fault. "Conversations" with representatives in Newark AND Tampa were totally fruitless, they simply deflected me back to toll line for customer support. Requests for an FAA representative were met with this:
"Allright. Since this isn't something we're going to work out - I'm going to need an FAA agent. Would you like to call one down?"
"I'm sorry, sir... a what?"
"An FAA Agent... the Federal Aviation Administration? They act as moderators when shit like THIS happens."
"We don't have one, sir."
"This is the largest international airport south of JFK in New York..."
"I've never seen one."
"In your entire tenure here, you've NEVER had to deal with an FAA representative?"
"Uhh... no."
Fuck Continental in their collective asses.
Now that I'm actually in San Angelo, I'm enjoying myself... I've had a lot of shit going on, but it's working itself out... I'm applying to SITEL as a temporary position until something more lucrative comes up, but in this town it could be awhile. Cable internet is up and running, and I'm typing from a friend's laptop. My rig should be in by the 12th... hopefully.
Unfortunately... I have a lot of other stuff going on right now. I'm not sure when I'll be able to return to EO. I don't have any intention of leaving if I have a choice, and there are still a lot of things I want to get done in the game... but I don't currently have the time or emotional capacity to deal with two "seperate" lives. I'll keep in touch... take care, EO.
