Ok, so I've been a "Graphics" Student for almost 3 years now. I have never said I was an artist of any sort. I actually think I suck at most art. I know what looks cool, I appreciate art and its styles and concepts. I've always loved art. Since I can remember I've loved it. I choose this major at school for a few main reasons. I quit school a while back because I wasnt sure I wanted to do this the rest of my life. I thought by going to school I was basically stepping to my end career. Like I would finish school and be magically done with learning for the rest of my life. It took me a couple years of drugs, alcohol, video games, working, and doing nothing to figure out I wanted to be in school and that by going to school I wasnt doing this. I went back and chose this major because most employers dont care what you went to school for, they just want to know you have the will to strive through it. Most jobs now a days teach job specific skills anyway. Now I know its not the case all the time. Like FS, shes going for Law, she will be a lawyer so the shit she learns at school is key. If I pursue GCom things I have learned will help me to learn other things easier. So back to the subject. I watch people around me create some pretty cool shit. Hell, even I do once in a while. But I've never taken on a large scale art project. I love doing alot of different things. Which is another reason I chose Gcom/multimedia. I get to make websites, graphics, sound, art, etc.... So I decided to take on an art project for myself. I dont really have time to do this so its gonna take a while, but here and there I'll add more to it. I have an image in my mind and I would like to put some of it on paper. So Imma post my progress here cuz you guys are a great inspiration and feedback source for me. I really care what you think and if you have any ideas I love hearing them. Once again. I've never taken an "Art" class. I am thinking after I graduate I'll come back and take art classes one by one after the fact. Problem is Biology sounds really interesting to me atm to lol. I find so many things so interesting in this world Id like to understand it all. But anyway. Here is the start of it. Phoenix Rebirth  The whole thing is being done in Photoshop. |

you asked for feedback: Well, I'm in no way college trained, but in Highschool and after my main focus was art. Took alot of advanced courses, and had a really good teacher throughout school, one who didn't restrict me artistically, and helped me grow. That being said, I like the direction its going and can't wait to see the finished product. If you dont mind, I'd like to work side-by-side on this, see what happens... its always interesting to see two artists minds and how the two finished products take a life of their own by the end. ^^ I assume your going towards a fantasy aspect? pheonix rebirth, no so much in the literal sense of a flaming bird, but more abstract? In the processes, with any true-to-life its always good to start with a skeletal form and work up. I'm going pen-to-photoshop. Here's some good reference tools im using for avian skeletons. Kinda gives a better idea to form, even if you dont stick with 100% factual (obviously... since its a pheonix. hehe)   _Code |

lol. nice. I have a template i drew up in Illustrator as well. I laid it behind and am airbrushin on top of it. my fucking class got canceled this afternoon so i think I might start on the feathers. I have already made some as a test and i think you'll like them. Give me 2 hours and look back.

Well, if u look at mine, the more i look at it hes kinda pudgy lol. the feathers are going on nicely. After you see this you will have a better idea. I have finished almost 1 wing. I may just post it after that. holy shit I've broke 100 layers already lol. If I can just mirror the wing ill be set. we will see. Im taking up two PC's in class right now. Working on one, posting/surfing tutorials on other lol.

Obviously there is more work. I need to touch up my airbrushin on the arms to hide the feather tips. Also, there are more feathers to add. Some under the biceps and at the ass end. maybe a few crazy ones on the back of the neck. Then I spose it will be time to add the head.! >< my least favorite part. I suck at faces let alone eyes and shit!
