OK, I came across this Gem while doing a patrol over by Tikrit
As some of you know I am a Demolitions guy for the Army. One of my jobs is to go out patrol and find IEDs (aka Road Side Bombs) So we are out patrolling and we get a call from an Infantry patrol that they have a suspected IED. We haul arse over there to check out the situation. When we get there the Infantry already blocked off the highway so no civilians would come across and possibley get hurt. After a brief chat with the Infantry patrol leader we go in to investigate this "suspected Bomb" well while we were checking it out the Infantry LT called over the radio that there was a possible trigger man for the bomb over by some tall grass. We sent a couple of vehicles over to check it out but the guys said they couldnt see this "Trigger Man" Meanwhile, there are Blackhawks circling overhead kinda over watching the whole scene. So then the Infantry guy starts screaming over the radio "HE IS THERE, LOOK OUT HE IS CRAWLING IN THE GRASS, HE IS DOING IT!!! HE IS DOING IT!!!" We all remained calm because at the same time we found out that the "Suspected Bomb" was nothing more than a bag filled with empty beer bottles and our Trigger man??? Nothing more than some poor goat herder that had no idea that there was an Infantry Patrol, My patrol and several Blackhawks getting ready to take his ass out.
Lesson Learned: If you are hearding Goats in Iraq, make sure the dumbass Americans can see them.
