This was the original of what it looked like for those who played the Sega-CD or PSOne version.

those graphics excite me i wonder if it's because the games were truly better or simply amazing for what they were, or just more meaningful because I was younger and more easily impressed.

Bad. Ass.
I can't believe I hadn't heard of this. I'm interested to see what other changes they'll make to the original game and formula, beyond the graphical update.

I'm interested to see what other changes they'll make to the original game and formula, beyond the graphical update. # New storyline events will be added to the PSP remake. # The battle system is turn-based and incorporates movement and position on the field (unlike Lunar: Legend). # The graphics are redone, and the sound and cutscenes are remastered. # The same voice actors as Lunar: Silver Star Story are credited. (Unknown if the remake will simply re-use the same clips.)

If they abandon the Working Designs translation, it'll suck.

If they abandon the Working Designs translation, it'll suck. Working Designs was just the publisher I believe. GameArts developed the game and translation. GameArts are the ones remaking this version as well.

GameArts are the ones remaking this version as well. GameArts created and developed the games in Japan. Working Designs did publish Lunar in North America but they also localized the series. They were far and away the best at localization. Sony abandoned them and they went out of business a few years ago.
