To make a short story long , at the moment it looks like I will be the interim chef where i work. With our chef of almost 11 years had walked out one Sunday night in Aug and the replacement chef being a idiot and getting his ass fired the restaurant falls on me for the moment.
While I am working with the owners to create a new menu and erase any sign of the last idiot chef , I was thinking about all the people i play with in EO and was curious as to what you all like to eat when you go out.
It doesn't matter what you eat and or what kind of dining you do.I would like to find out what some of your favorite foods you eat when you go out.
example - pizza , deepdish , pepperoni , mush and onion - NY Sirloin , fries - Fettuccini Alfredo
and what type of restaurant : - fast food = McDonalds , Burger King - short order = diner - Family dining = medium price , something for everyone , 2-3 stars - Finer Dining = a bit more expensive , uncommon foods , 3-4 stars - Fine Dining = If you need to know the price you can't afford to eat here , Suit and tie required. 4 Stars+

my favorite kinds of restaurants are the kind you sit down and get a menu but can dress in paint covered ripped up jeans and a t-shirt and like not rediculously expensive. i think the best thing to eat is either good barbeque(Ribs definately, wings are good) and i also like pastas a lot so theres what i think .

Any place that has steaks, sammiches and pasta on the same menu is awesome for me, but it needs to be a step above Perkin's or IHOP and be more like an Outback steakhouse.
Also, add a bar. Everyone loves a bar.

McDonald's, Burger King, etc: When I hit up the major fast food restaurants, I am usually just grabbing a lot of whatever is on the "value menu". All major chains have one now. Onion rings instead of fries are a nice change from time to time. Bacon goes good on everything! I expect Mayo as opposed to Ketchup for my fries. Milkshake instead of a Coke is a nice change too. In general, chicken burgers, cheese burgers. Crap like that. Horrible for my health, I need to start staying away from it. Subway. Dagwoods. And that new one, that just reached Montreal... /drool What can I say lol... Awesome sandwiches. They are way better for your health than the above and they fill you up more. Grilled chicken, cold cut mixes, etc... Any every kind of veggie you can imagine AND you need some sauce/oil/cool mustard to throw on em... And you got the option to toss them in the oven to toast them, doubles the menu. Kinda. My girl and I hit the Sport Bar/Grills/Steak houses a lot. Aux Vieux Duluth, Roasters, Kasey's, Cage aux Sport... My girl usually grabs ribs or a ceasar salad, stuff like that... What else... Quesadillas, nachos make nice entrees. They usually also have HUGE burgers cooked on a grill. Steaks, obviously... Fajitas... Chicken wings... Seafood. No thanks. And we rarely hit the expensive restaurants... Honestly, maybe it is just my class or whatever... But I very sincerely enjoy it ALOT less... But she loves it... So yea... I think she likes dressing up and the atmosphere more because the food really isnt that spectacular. When we order in... It is usually from like mom and pop style restaurants that make souvlakis, shish taouks, all kinds of hot subs, all kinds of pastas, all kinds of pizza... Club sandiches... Yea I don't think I am much help. I like to eat and I eat almost anything lol... Hope this helps you think it out at least!

Mostly a place that isn't too expensive, but not too cheap either. If your restaurant has a theme (ala Mexican, Italian, Steakhouse, etc.) stick to it but vary the dishes so that there is something for everyone. Kind of like how some places will mix other cultures into their plates. For example, fish tacos (ha!). It has to have some class, too. Places that are remotely greasy tend to ward off customers. Both in food and atmosphere. Especially since more and more people are leaning toward healthier eating habits. And the bar has to actually serve good drinks. I'm not talking about the usual watered down fruity flavored smurf piss. I'm talking about good stiff drinks.
So what kind of establishment has the restaurant presented itself as until now?

Sorry if this read differently then I may have wanted , i'm not really looking for ideas as to what may get put on the menu , just looking to see what kind of food interests people in EO have.I had brought it up at work of maybe changing the demographic of the customer base we have. And was wondering what EO does for food when they go out. and this is where i work newfoundlake.com

lol sin, ive passed by that place before
ur gonna need a wide variety of menu items i would say depending upon the season, right now u have alot of the leaf peepers leavin, but not yet
a good burger yes, steak and a good flashy seafood selection yea as well as health smart food and affordability
i basically eat whatever with a few exceptions, having a semi flexible menu will help u guys to keep ppl from eating there and not going somewhere else. ur atmosphere is fine for the region just gota make it comfortable and ejoyable on a wider scale. try to figure out where most of the customer base comes from when they stay there and why. thats ur answer on how to change the menu.
also try to keep it cheap, with crude oil topping $98/barrel, not very many ppl are going to afford much, so maybe an option of "half orders" might suit ur customers better.

I like a nice sit-down restaurant but the idea of not having to pay out the ass for it is appealing. Places like P.F. Chang's, etc. The food is typically nice and has the atmosphere of being a higher priced restaurant than it actually is. Plus, it takes the idea of getting "Chinese" food and turns it on its head.
