Just thought I'd let tempus know, they absolutely broke 2-handed weapons yesterday.
1 str = 1 atk, 1 dex = 1 acc. for 2 handers, plus they changed other damage formulas.
damage is insane.
mnks and 1-handers got a mini-nerf to go along with it.

Sweet, I also read you can raise a Chocobo and he basically becomes your mount. You can whistle and he will come to you wherever. That should help a bit with the horrendous travel times. I want a green Chocobo!

Sounds like fun. It's too bad SE deletes your account after 3 months, because I'd be glad to sign in and poke around for a bit. But alas, they deleted all my characters. Great business model, dipshits.

staff monk might be viable now, that's how broken it is.
damage formulas for thf and nin wouldn't really change except for the loss of variance locke.
time to level samurai.
2/3 on black belt items now. of course, now it'll sit in my mog house.

GKT NIN FTW Grats on BB items - getting them from kings? If you can get two, why not a third? edit: demand for 2-handed relics must be up

I meant the belt.
I'm also 0/3 on brown belt items after tossing the two easy ones a ways back.
GKT nin is also actually viable. It's kinda disgusting.

Every now and then they have a "special" where they let you bring back a character which is older than 3 months of not paid.

Uhhhh... not to encourage anyone leaving the current WoW division for FFXI again, but for accuracy's sake: - Your account is not deleted after three months. It is simply no longer guarenteed after three months. According to a SE representive I've spoken with, they generally leave accounts alone unless server population becomes a major issue. Take his words with a grain of salt.
- The change to attributes' accuracy and attack benefits apply to two handed weapons only. One-handers and monks will still use the same base 2 STR=1 ATK / 2 DEX= 1 ACC formula.
- Obviously, this makes a lot of previous gear, which was already sexy for most jobs that could equip them, even MORE sexy for jobs that also focus on two-handed weapons. Prime examples include Hauberk and Byakko's Haidate. DRK and SAM will receive an additional 50% from the attributes on them.
- In addition to the formula change, the formula for damage on two-handed weapons against (endgame level) mobs has been retooled so that you should see an overall increase in white DPS against these foes.
- A new class of item named "Grips" has been added to the game. Grips are put in your off-hand when wielding a two handed weapon (H2H doesn't count,) and provide a small stat bonus of some kind. There are some very sexy ones out there for melee jobs, like STR +2 Acc +2, but they have also put a few mage grips in the game for those of us who were stuck wielding the elemental staves 90% of the time.
- The chocobo whistle is an enhanced item that you obtain and recharge through the chocobo breeding program. You start off with a chocobo that's too weak to use for any kind of extended period of time and which has lower stats (run speed, endurance, digging, ect.) than conventional rented chocobos. With a LOT of time invested, you can train your chocobo to be better than average in many of these areas.
- As of the patch, you can now enter your chocobo in races.
- A large number of job adjustments were introduced:
- Beastmaster has finally been buffed. Called pets now last longer, all pets regen health when not fighting (Stay makes them regen faster,) and Beastmasters no longer receive an EXP penalty when fighting with a charmed pet (I believe Jug pets still apply.)
- Corsairs got some love, too. Phantom roll has been improved. Sorry, I don't have any specific numbers, but SE claims it was a 'great improvement.'
- lolpups can now lolheal, but not really. They got some new frames and attachments, and the puppet's skills were retooled to be stronger overall. No new melee gear for the PUP himself, that I'm aware of.
- A number of other less noteworthy changes were made.

I got the same thing when I just tried the link, and it worked before. I know it had trouble in Internet Explorer, but I got it to work previously on both Firefox and Opera. Here's a quick and dirty link to Somepage's info on the update items: ffxi.somepage.com/news/338And, for anyone interested, a link to SE's statement on known issues with the patch: www.playonline.com/ff11us/polnews/news11190.shtml
