Alright, so my chocobo finally reached the adult stage at 29 days and is now big enough for me to ride. However, to ride the chocobo I need a choco whistle, and to get that I need to travel to the stables in San D'Oria. So I do. When I get there, the trainer tells me in order to get a choco whistle I need to prove that I'm worthy of parenting a chocobo and to do that I need to find something it has hidden in its straw bedding (apparently chocobos only do this with something belonging to someone they really like). I head back to Bastok. I then discover that in order to get at its straw bedding and find the hidden object (and thus, my whistle) I need to take it for a walk and try a quick search. However, I had previously used all of my chocobo's energy by caring for it which is what a good parental-figure does. I cannot search for hidden objects in my chocobo's bedding today. So I have to wait an additional day to find the object and travel back to San D'Oria to give the jerk chocobo trainer there something so he'll give me a whistle so I can then (finally) ride my own chocobo. This is a cautionary tale to all who are raising chocobos: when your bird finally reaches the adult stage DON'T DEPLETE ITS ENERGY until you can search for the proverbial needle in a haystack. C'mon, SE, I just wanna ride my friggin' bird.

So, mine is adult now also... Got the same message, so I took it for walks. One time, she noticed what I was doing, so I couldn't search. The second time, there was nothing found. -.- Ugh! I want my whistle lol Drwok, did your chocobo grow up yellow, or another colour? Mine stayed yellow

I ended up getting my whistle on the third (and would-be final) short walk I took my choco on. The first two times I got the message that my choco was really happy, then it caught me when I tried to look for the item. The third time I got the message "Your chocobo is completely absorbed in its current activities" so I searched again, it didn't catch me and I came up with the handkerchief I had given her when she was a chick. I took her on more short walks than either medium or long, so it fits the theory that the chocobo hides it where you took it walking the most. Can't confirm that, though.
