This is a rant, about a dumb woman having me REMOVE A WALL, and then request us to PUT IT BACK UP.
So my friend and his fiancee bought this new house. I agreed to live there for a year pay rent, help to some renovations, etc.
Anyways, there's 2 walls that they wanted removed between the kitchen and the living room because the kitchen was just too small. The plan to rip these walls out was in place for weeks. We ripped it out last Tuesday.
Turns out her mom does interior design. And what does she suggest "oh, put that wall back up" My friend tells me this. I'm all BISH ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?! My friend has no balls, and won't say "that's fricking insane, you decide what the fuck you are gonna do BEFORE WE SPEND 10 HOURS RIPPING THAT FUCKER DOWN AND RENTING A DUMPSTER TO THROW THE REMAINS IN. You told me to take it down, now it's gone, it's not coming back".
My friend has no desire to put the wall up, but as I said, she stole his balls and he hasn't taken them back.
My position is "now that I've done all this free work for you, there had better be a good structural reason why that wall needs to be there, not a pet peave, or a personal preference, but a good structural reason."
"Well the wall needed to come out anyway, we needed to fix the X support blah blah blah..."
"Um, no it didn't, that wall had probably been there for 30+ years, and in that time, I can't find any structual stress that implies that X needed to be fixed. The house would not have collapsed if we had left that."
So I'm not gonna repair that shit. She wasn't a wall back, she can build it. The other stuff, I will do, and make them independant of the wall. So when she fucks up that wall, and it needs to be removed, it's not gonna damage the counters, cabinets, etc that I put in front of it.
This shit is kinda funny, I have underestimated the power of human stupidity.
