ok, so i'm sure you guys don't really care, but...
at my law school, we have this thing called a barrister's ball (kind of like a law school prom). at this ball, we invite really special people who stand out in the legal field to come and speak at the banquet. this year, supreme court justice kennedy has been asked and has accepted the invitation to come speak at the ball. that being said, mr. justice kennedy has asked the school if he could teach constitutional law to some of the students (which is a first year course). while of course everyone wants to come and see him talk/discuss/teach, it just isn't feasible if they are going to keep the set-up more like class and less like a lecture. so the school has put all of the first year's names into a lottery system to see who would be able to sit in the class.
my name was drawn. ;D hehe, i'm psyched!!! i've lived near the supreme court (when i worked in D.C.), but i've never been able to see a supreme court justice speak, much less teach a class!!!! so yeah, i'm pretty excited!!
well, time to pay attention in con law....

finally a moment to breathe...
just thought i'd update ya'll as to what happened. well, justice kennedy was amazing. just a very down to earth, nice, funny guy. he asked us not to go posting about him on our web blogs and what not, so i'm not really going to post about his personal opinions.
he was just a nice guy. i didn't expect that from a supreme court justice, you know? i expected him to be like most of the other people i met on the hill when i worked there (you know, pervy, conceted, pompous old men), but he was totally different. he was cracking jokes, subtley, but jokes nonetheless. it was way cool.
that night was the barrister's ball, and to be honest, he talked about most of the same stuff as he did in our class - but i can't really remember all of the details because i was a bit drunk eh, oh well! no biggie, it was fun anyways! and my date, a girlfriend from school, and i had a great time, lol. wished broken could've come, but at least we've got next year and the years after that to come!
