Imagine a portable version of FFonline for PSP?
SCE's Phil Harrison mentioned that PSP is their fastest selling platform, they have shipped 5412 PSP development kits worldwide. Sony will begin distributing original PSone games online to PSP this winter, using an archive server. The service should begin after the video/voice chat and audio/text RSS features are added. PSP will be able to store PSone games on memory stick and boot from it.
- The PlayStation Network Platform will also extend to PSP shortly after PS3 launch.

...And yet they still don't have any decent software at the present. *sigh* ... my PSP feels more like a Paperweight than a gaming system...

Yeah, but one game (that was a good play, but hardly groundbreaking or even a benchmark on the system,) doesn't sell the system, and Sony has been pushing waaaay too hard on its inferior UMD-format licensing for movies. I didn't pay $250 to watch movies I could easily convert to MP4 and watch via memory stick.
Then again, if you watch a lot of portable movies on the go and want your gaming as a side dish, the PSP could be right for you. They do have a decent list of games coming out - the system is bound to pick up soon.

what the hell do you guys want? the damn thing to update itself?
I can't complain... i play MP3s on it all the time on the way to and from school.
If I'm on an airplane, I don't have to get out my bigassed laptop to watch a movie. Same for in a car.
I'm having alot of fun with GTA and MG Acid (i know it's card based and that pisses alot of people off, but it's really a good strategy game at heart... with almost limitless possibilities for plan of attack.
And USB cable for update? Use the wifi on it for pete's sake. If you don't have wireless, i can almost guarantee that someone next door does (unless you live in the boonies). Steal it from them.
The only thing that makes me really sad is they have blocked most emulators on it. T_T_T_T_T_T_T_T_T_T_T (cries some more).
I'm sure someone will find a way around it though =P

Hey, you'll hear no complaints about MGS: Ac!d from me. Personally, that (and Lumines) remains the reason I haven't just traded in on the system and gotten a DS (Zelda, Metroid Hunters and Advance Wars - need I say more?) That, and for the PSP's inherant (if unsupported) ability to support "other" functions. Homebrew applications have kept the system alive for me, and I'm not talking about work-arounds for security on commercial games. I've never once tried to play a game on PSP I haven't bought at retail. But therein lies the problem... It's become a utilitarian device for me, because there simply aren't enough decent, much rather less good or fantastic games on the system.
Of course, I don't expect everyone else to have the same concerns or pitfalls as me. Some people will use it mostly as a portable media player - and in that capacity, it's fantastic... especially if you own or can afford a large-capacity flash card. But for gamers, it continues to disappoint. Here's hoping to fall and christmas releases.
[Edit:]
That's an exciting premise, but you have to keep in mind that this is not going to be a free emulation service. We're obviously going to have to pay for the software rights to the downloads, and the digital distribution will be strictly controlled (to prevent someone from downloading it and then trading it to all of their friends.)
Honestly, the most exciting feature to me is flash support. When the system first came out, I told people that it would probably be a matter of time before someone got the bright idea and persuaded everyone to jump on the bandwagon - in tandem with its wifi web access, you may be seeing the advent of secure, legal homebrew applications for PSP. Or... it could turn out to be a big marketing ploy. We'll have to wait and see. ;D

I'll end up buying a PSP because of all the old school RPG ports coming out for it. Of note is Valkire Profile.
I own alot of hard to find games But, because they are so old, they have a tendace to not work, and having them resurfaced doesn't do the trick. I own Valkire so I'm still trying to find a good ROM/emulater for it... (Legal for once!) I would like to see them port some othe hard to find games.
Brigandine Thousand Arms Lunar SSTC Lunar 2 Grow Lancer's
Heck, go back and port some Super Falcom games...

Lunar!...bringing back the old school Working Designs games...unfortunetly I don't think we will see that for PSP...there is a new Lunar game on the Nintendo DS.
I'm digging the portable emulation though....

SCEA's Product Evaluation Group Manager Mark Vitello said that PSP is lacking a mascot/trademark title like Mario, Zelda or Halo. He thinks it will be the most important task for Sony to create a trademark title for PSP. lol
