I have picked up, and am playing EQ2. I vowed I never would, but the power of peer pressure got too much. You see, I played as a cleric in EQ1 for over 4 years before I decided to retire and pick up FFXI. Then the guild and friends whom I had left in EQ1 met up and started all over again in EQ2. I have to admit, it's alot of fun  but even better is the crew I've come to know and love running around like total newbs again. Fear not, I'm still playing FFXI.  But if anybody has switched to Sony's evil giant, and is looking for afew friends to play with - let me know  |

Ive been doin a ton of research on EQ2. Hrmmmm. This game looks great. A lot more soloablity. And on top of all that you can get exp from quests. There are greater rewards for people who explore rather than just farm farm farm. You get better items not from farming but from exploring, questing, openin chest, and defeated hard enemies. I really like how this game looks and its gameplay features. Plus lol you can have your own baby pet dragon. Fuckin sweet. There is no PvP but I dont really think Im a PvP player anyway. Ive already decided I would either be a hafling scout or a wood elf scout. My goal would be ranger or assasin. Monk looks fun but I'd like to try something else. But who knows, maybe they would do a better job of protrayin monk than FF has done. Id be a artisan scholar as well. eheh Fishing looks like it sux in this game but might be ok? O well good luck Kris. Stop by and tell me how you like it. Who knows I may join up. I like the darker side to this game as opposed to the loveliness of FF.

lol... Didnt say i was gonna. I told you last night that really the only reason I play FF is for you lexx and EO. But if youve ever played Dungeons and Dragons you would appreciate the darker side to EQ2 as opposed to FF. Remember Balders Gate Miruuk? Wasnt that like one of the funnest games we ever played on ps2? I liked killing rats in the sewers lol. X talkin bout this game made me go and check it out. What can I say. You know Im a looky loo when it comes to games. I personally wish that maybe all of EO would check it out and do a linkshell switch if everyone thought it was cool. But I know thats not gonna happen. yeah which completly sucks too, cuz i have pretty much decided that EQ2 completly surpasses FF in basically all ways except that [EO] is not on it, and that many [EO] members prolly never would be able to either. The ability to xp whenever i want to, gaining xp for quests, an a craftin system which far surpasses FF's, which also happens to be fun enough that yes, even you Tempus would prolly have fun crafting. Then you look at the fact their is no sittin around in Jeuno waitin for a pt which may never come, or forming a pt an lacking a tank,rdm,whm. hell in that game 2 what would be = to blms could pt up an go fuck shit up. Quest rewards are much better, sure their are quests which basically fuck you over, lol, but their are many rewarding ones aswell that pay you based on the effort of the quest. lol, an of course then u have FF's wonderffull death system an xp loss nothin about this game pisses me off more than loosing something i earning even if for the most part u gain it all back, u still have something taken away that you already had. EQ2 death would make most FFXI players laugh an not even care ontheir u jus loose like 5-10% of xp while u fightin till u pay off like a death tax, but u still gain xp an aren't gonna d'lvl which i feel is a complete load of shit. I never thought i would find a rpg game where death was as bad as diablo 2 in hell, where u could die with a baddie jus breathin on you an then loose like billions of xp, but atleast you didn't d'lvl tho. anyhow this is startin to end in a rant so ima jus stop there. btw i dislike this even being on a FF board, but i do wanna atleast keep up with u guys tho

I think that all the things you hate about FF people hate as well...But it helps make the game what it is. If you take all that out of the game, then we have a server full of level 75's...No challenge. I am not reading up on EQ at all because Jonathan and Miruuk can't play EQ (maybe others as well). I wish you guys the best of luck in whatever game you decide to play, you will always have a home here.

Well, Sony never really has ever had an origional idea in their head save for the origional Everquest. Instead of an auction house, they have brokers. You get houses, and can fill them with furnature and even upgrade the walls...OR you can totally move out from your little rinky-dink 1 room apartment to a 2 or 3 or 4 room pad. Course...you gotta pay rent.  Yes, finally you don't delevel in EQ2 (You did in EQ1...man did that blow). And while I believe it's a bug...but if you have alot of experience debt built up you can log out for a while and it'll slowly decrease. I kind of like the idea of the debt - because you also earn it if people in your party die...it's the urge to keep everyone alive and well, forcing better tearmwork and forcing a more intracite knowledge of how your class works. One thing I'm very fond of is (and very stolen from FFXI) is that the highest level person in the party once again figures the xp for the entire party. in EQ2, however, all the monsters change so they check lower to the same as the highest level person. If that low level person disbands, the monsters all go back to their origional check. So imagine a level 75 person running a level 1 through the Champaine, and the level 1 never gets aggroed. Pretty nifty. Again, EQ2 isn't really for everyone. I have friends of 4 years there. They are what make the game for me...not the game itself. I've still only been playing part time on EQ2 and still focusing on FFXI. |

Actually Sony publishes EQ, Verant is the company (if I remember the name right) who originally made it, and sold the concept to Sony. I agree with Markus, while Im tempted to check out EQ2, WoW, and CoH; FF is where my friends are.
