Kinda like WoW with different lore. There are a few unique features (mainly the talent/class system). Its a decent game that should do well.

Been reading on this game on my free time...pretty much in doubt of alot of stuff after FFXIV-esque release. Is there a class change type of system?
Which server are you on? Just wondering. I plan on giving rift a go, but i still be around on WoW for those that might misunderstood thing easily.

I'm on Regulos, pvp server. Guardian side, name is Plasma.
Rift's release actually went exceptionally well. There are very few hiccups here and there. Endgame needs to be expanded but the game is only a month old lol.
Class system works like this:
There are 4 main classes, warrior, cleric, rogue, mage. Each main class has 9 "souls" or subclasses that have unique talents and abilities. You can choose 3 souls to put your points into and interchange them as you wish. Every few levels you get 2 points to spend instead of 1 so you'll always have some points to put in alternate soul trees.
Cleric has the paladin-like trees. Cleric can heal-tank-aoeDps. Rogue is melee-ranged-tank-buffs. Mage is ranged(caster)-buffs-heals, warrior is melee-tank-ranged aoe(kinda like dk).
You also get quad spec. SO you can have 4 preset specs to choose from.

If my PC wasn't an overheating piece of crap, I'd check it out...
I have some of the most awesome dreams were I'm in AB guarding the farm and fucking people up *sigh*
The Old Republic is next big MMO to look out for (imo), Bioware is running that too. Bioware even took over UO, I believe the site is functional, updated and everything.
I think I really want a console MMO, slim pickings though...
