This was the uneven bars routine that earned Nadia Comaneci the first 10 in women's gymnastics at the olympics:
Funny scene from Arthur and the Minimoys... couldn't find it in english so here it is in Thai. If you ever see this movie I recommend seeing the uncut version. Not only did the american release cut out like 10 or so minutes from the movie but every time they call the little guys the "invisibles" it makes my ears hurt.
One of the most, if not THE most emotionally impactful animes of all time, Evangelion, rebuilt. Trailer for Rebuild 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone which is out now on dvd and about to be released on bluray:

also I used to play neon genesis evangelion on the PS2, is that the same storyline and stuff as what you linked or unrelated? I had to look it up, apparently the ps2 followed the main storyline and expanded on some of the stuff they barely touched on. I can't say how closely the storylines matched up since I never played it, but I still highly recommend you watch the anime. Watch at least the Rebuild movies and if you enjoy them, watch the original tv series. Bear in mind the original was pretty high quality anime but from 15 years ago, so the new movies are higher def quality but also have beautiful CGI, so the tv show might look a bit simplistic after watching the movies... but Evangelion isn't just about awe-inspiring visuals. It's one of the most psychologically rich and gutwrenchingly amazing animes of all time. Don't be fooled into thinking it's a "mecha" anime... what's not immediately apparent is the Evas are actually giant humanoids covered in armor, with minds and souls of their own. The pilots go through horrendous trauma both in and out of piloting, and the whole show is a very complex emotional roller coaster. You'll alternately despise for and root for Shinji and Asuka, Rei you'll probably float between confusion and intrigue, and all of the characters are incredibly complex. Long story short, 15 years after this anime series was released, it's still consistently listed in people's "top 10 animes of all time" and I could personally say top 10 shows, without even specifying type. One fair warning, you will likely not understand half the stuff going on... even after you get to the end. And watching the original OVA movies that redid the end of the series, Death & Rebirth and End of Evangelion... you'll probably be even more confused. I can probably answer any questions though. And even with being confused, you will likely still enjoy the hell out of it. Here's a pretty good preview clip for the tv series: So yeah... watch it and stuff. :-D |

I loved that documentary. I wanted it in my globalism class. A guy from Tuva actually came to my school last year... when I wasn't here. /cry Tuvan throat singing is way cool though. |

Gunnm (Battle Angel) Last Order volume 2 perfectly sums up the tone of the entire series (which will be having it's 20th anniversary in December) I've talked about this series before, and posted stuff from it quite a bit, but a friend of mine asked me for 2-3 chapters to "sell" someone on whether they wanted to actually take the time to read the series (the chapters being released in the past few months will be in the 15th volume of Last Order... which will also be the 24th volume of the series, so it's quite a chunk of time to read them all!) So with only three chapters to encapsulate the whole series, I chose chapters 3-5 of volume 2. You can read/watch them here (reminder, read right to left <------):
