Dragon Age: Origins

Over the holidays I glued myself to this game. I enjoyed the game a lot but like Markus said the ending wasn't all that. It also took me a good 2-3 hours of playing to master the combat system, idk maybe it was because I was a Rogue Fencer but death came often and swiftly at the beginning. (I'm replaying as an arcane warrior and I barely ever die now period, it's almost too easy).

Now on to the d/l content. I think it's real bullshit to charge 6 bucks to play one dungeon or w/e. So I have not touched any of the DL content except for the Golem one, which had a free code when I bought it but I never got to see it. (I guess you are supposed to not destroy the Dwarven Anvil in order to see this content, otherwise I have no clue).

If I would of known they were going to have an expansion I would of never chosen to die at the end of the game......Somehow starting with another Grey Warden from Orlais in the new expansion does NOT attract me at all....Guess I'll have to beat it again with my arcane warrior and export him.

EDIT: I just remembered that I can simply replay that last battle on my Rogue and send Allistair's bitch ass to his death...SO I CAN export my rogue to the new content...YAY!! lol)

I can also guess which character is coming back.....After choosing to die to end the game, at one point when they go into what each character did after the battle. For Morrigan it was something like... "As to Morrigan no one knows what happened to her after leaving Boedy before the last battle", but some do report "Seeing a witch in the far off mountains carrying a child, some say she went to bed with the mighty Boedy himself(me)........(And you know I had to hit that a few times in game )

So I'm guessing it'll be her. I also noticed the expansion comes out 3/16, couldn't they have chosen a better time....I do like the game but it wont see daylight while FFXIII is out. Maybe it can fill the gap between XII and XIV nicely thou.

Personally, I enjoyed my ending. I say "my" here because, a bit of Google searching will show, the possible endings are radically different depending on who you were and what you did during the game.

As the Human Noble Warrior who played with dignity and honor, he saw his house fall at the treacherous hands of Arl Howe. Losing everything he knows, he chances upon Duncan (the obvious mentor) and becomes a Grey Warden. At some point down the road, Morrigan becomes a love interest. In addition to the overarching confrontation with Lograine, he has a more personal vendetta against Howe, which is settled in an epic showdown near the end of the game.

On the eve of the final showdown, Morrigan asks him to save his life using the ritual. He refuses. Given their background, she insists he do it to save himself. He refuses again. Morrigan leaves the party. At the end of the final conflict, the Lich stands destroyed and peace is returned to the land, Alastair is crowned king with Anora at his side, and the hero goes down a legend in death.

It's pretty much a textbook example of classic romantic adventure structuring. In this case, the hero's "transformation" is achieved through death: something common among medieval adventure stories. As such, it felt like a perfect, if sombering, ending to me.

What I do appreciate is how this is pretty much one of the three "canonical endings" possible, but the nuances of the ending can change pretty radically based on what you did during the game. As an example, I helped establish contact between the Circle of Magi and the Dwarves via the female Dwarf who wanted to become a Mage, and helped the Dwarvan Chanter start his own Chantry within the capital. These two factors culminated in a completely unintended, if grimly realistic, holy march being declared by the Templars against the Dwarvan city, sparking a war between the two races.

I'd love to play through it again and see what the other starting experiences have to offer, but I have a lot of other games sucking my attention away...

I just started playing this, picked up the Ultimate Edition for PS3. I'm probably about 15 hours in and the game is more about talking to NPCs than anything else.

MOAR fighting, less going through lists of questions. Oh yeah, I am a Human Rogue. Hopefully it picks up.

This is what I've been saying the whole time. We seem to be a minority though. Most people don't seem to mind because it impacts the game and your characters development. But imo, the impact is minor. Or the impact isn't worth the amount of time I have to spend going through the lists of questions!

All these lists of questions seems to be a theme in most Bioware games (ME2 as well)... Dragon Age 2 better be good or no more Bioware for Markus.

The game will pick up though and I think you will enjoy it. If you really want a challenge, set it to the highest difficulty lol...

Working on the dwarves, which is the last of the recruiting I have to do. Looking forward to what happens next! Enjoyable game so far. And yeah, I did bang Morrigan...I couldn't stop laughing at the scene.

Yea, it's a pretty good game. I played through the DA2 demo and I'm pretty sure that DA2 will be quite a bit better. The menus in DA2 are nicer looking and easier to navigate imo. They are building on the same story. Flenneth is in the demo, referenches to Grey Wardens and High Templars. Looking sweet, I'm pretty excited about it's release.

Although, I am a bit turned off by the way that EA is promoting the game. Idk, it seems more manipulative than anything else. Complete the demo get an item. 1 million DLs of the game unlocks more content. 1 million shares on FB unlocks something else...
