Funny thing is, most of those early release titles still hold up surprisingly well. While I haven't played all of the below listed games, and there's some accounting for personal genre preference, the following are all considered excellent entries in the platform and are worth looking into: - Grand Theft Auto IV
- Assassin's Creed 1 & 2
- Dragon Age: Origins
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 1 & 2
- FIFA Soccer 10
- MLB '09: The Show
- DiRT 1 & 2
- Rock Band 1 & 2
- Guitar Hero World Tour (also, 5)
- Batman: Arkham Asylum
- Street Fighter IV
- Tekken 6
- Dead Space
- Bio Shock 2
- Brutal Legend
- Ninja Gaiden Sigma 1 & 2

...Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles for PSP, which is actually a 3D remake of Rondo of Blood (generally considered the best of the 2D action/platformer iteration before they moved on to SotN's "Metroidvania" style.)
The game is decent on its own, but includes an unlockable version of Symphony of the Night. Barring that... the PS3 / PSP re-release of the original SotN. I'd take a guess that you've already seen everything worth seeing in SotN, though, so neither option really helps you.
As far as I'm aware, 'Metroidvania' games don't exist on the PS3 / PSP. Shadow Complex was the most recent entry in the genre that I can recall (and it was quite good,) but it was an XBLA exclusive. I share your love for the genre (Super Metroid is pretty much my top best game of all time) but nobody seems to take it seriously anymore.

lol Markus...those are the best line of Playstation commercials ever. They are partially responsible for a 185% increase in sales. And they are hillarious.
