Even if it's difficult to find, there's always an answer in math. Most math teachers can make you understand the equations somehow, they can make it all fit together. I have yet to find a history teacher that came even close to giving me a solid framework of understanding with history... I've never been given any discernible pattern to history that makes me connect the events happening in one place to another, or even in one time period to another in the same place. I've always preferred math and science for that reason... even when we don't fully understand why something acts the way it does, we can describe it by its effects. We can place it into a solid framework of existence and say "This does this and it causes this." Math beats the pants off history. It's what builds the universe and is eternal, history is just our reactions to it. ;-)
Or something.

While Math is certainly important, History is the most important subject for someone who lives in the free world to take. A civilization that does not study history has no past and is doomed to repeat their mistakes in the future. I consider civics a part of history, also. I think it's truly sad that the mandatory government testing in America for public schools, places complete emphasis on math and science, and evaluates the teachers' performance based on the results. They don't come right out and say, "We don't want you teaching students about the constitution." But that is the net effect. I guess they figure it will be easier to take more of our rights away if we never learn what they are in the first place.

I would have to say history! Math is ok, but not my favorite subject. I had a great history teacher that put it all together and made it fun to learn which really made a difference. Math there is always an answer, may be hard to find and take time to find it but usually there is an answer. If I had my choice of the two, I would do history before math. And I am going to be an accountant..go figure. lol ;D

Hmmmmmm...
On one hand, History teaches us how to avoid the mistakes of the past, and gives us a brief glimpse into the inner workings of a system that is, on the whole, much larger than us. Nothing makes the individual seem less significant and more impacting on the greater world around them than looking at their examples in the context of a history textbook. Still, History is generally presented through a highly biased, narrowed view of the events it portrays... and for everything that makes its way into the textbooks, there's a hundred other minor machinations that contributed just as much to the end result that will never be recognized or known.
On the other hand, Mathematics represent a universal truth, unbiased and constant.
...What was the question again?

Math is a bittersweet relationship, I hate to love it, but nothing in school offers as much satisfaction as when you solve a really hard problem or equation that you've been working a long time on.
I like broad history, but I don't really care for details. Canada became a Country in 1867 gaining its independence by asking nicely. I care a little less that the 1st 4 Provinces were Quebec, Ontario and like Manitoba and Nova Scotia or something. And I care much less about who was Prime Minister at the time (John A. MacDonald?).
Drama and Physical Education/Athletics are #1 though. >.>
