Looks like it was reverse engineered. Apparently DarkStar is the project to do this, and there is a note here: wiki.dspt.info/index.php/Missions where in 2013 all of the missions weren't initially working. Now there are many more working missions. Here on the LegionDark server the admin talks about how he got Mog Wardrobe 3 & 4 working. legiondark.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=1730Once you know some Sequel a lot of this stuff isn't that difficult, just takes time. I was thinking about contacting the admin and saying I might be interested in making an Excel VBA that would allow people to manually input what missions they were on, then the VBA would kick out SQL scripts to set the missions for the accounts. I am sure he knows how to do that and for whatever reason hasn't. There might be some other support issues that go with it, such as if a certain quest is required for a mission, if that quest doesn't get set with the mission, it might cause that person's account to crash. Fixing that type of thing is a pain, so with 3x base xp or whatever the DarkLegion guys are doing, it probably isn't worth the hassle to support.

Paying for the server probably isn't a big deal at this point compared to how it was in 2002 when FFXI came out. In 1998 I could host 8 other players on StarCraft on my Win 95 PC, in 2006 I could host 32 Players on my PS3. With a newer computer and a basic cable internet connection, I suspect you could probably host 100 players without a problem. Now hosting 2000 players might be an issue. I bet it's just a few people managing this thing as a hobby. These guys are running from an Industrial Server. They GM on the side and actually do support tickets. Read about it a bit more. So that's the only one that would do character transfers, with a whole ton of exceptions. (No spells transfers, no quests/missions transfers, they restrict Kraken Clubs and relics). Only job at 99 will be main job, all other jobs are capped at 75 for the importer, so if you have two 99 level jobs, only the main will be 99, the other 75. Well there's a whole site wiki.dspt.info/index.php/Main_Page is about how to setup your own FFXI server. I might actually set this up at home and have my own FFXI Offline. Didn't realize FFXI runs off of a SQL database, I have worked with SQL at my job a lot in the last few years, so I bet I could go into the tables and manually set my character. I suspect the Missions/Quests/Spells are in other tables and the person writing the import utility didn't bother to write that script. Don't know how long some of these would be around, I've seen this before on other games. Often current companies don't care enough to take legal action about older games. SE might not care at this point about FFXI. It this was done with FFXIV I am sure they would flip. I checked out the TitanSentinels site, and there was a mention that they went to a private server, but I couldn't find a reference to the name.

I have learned that there are actually several FFXI private servers listed here: wiki.dspt.info/index.php/DarkStar_ServersBest one to me looks like legiondark.com Forums: legiondark.com/forums/ Claim they can "STS service give us the unique ability to transfer a character from ANY server to legion". Looks like they customized a few things. Think I'll play legitimately for a while, then next time I quit, I will probably port my character to this server. Anyone else tried this? Locke, I know you are still checking forums, so I guess this question is mostly for you.

I have been watching 30 minutes to an hour of cut scenes about every night for the last week.
Forgot how many CS there were in COP I have watched it for about 4 nights now and am only about 1/2 way through Chapter 5.
After I finish CS I intend to pick this back up. Looks like beating the first 2 Rhapsodies chapters unlocks FFXI Easy Mode (to go on top of all the easier features they introduced). You get something like a 180% xp bonus for finishing the first 2 Chapters. I read you don't need to beat all of the expansions to Finish Rhapsodies, so I think I'll do the first 2 Chapters right away for the Xp bonus, then finish it off later.
A permanent +15 Str/Vit/Int/Mnd/Agi/Dex/Chr boost would be nice and make it even easier to level up other jobs.
I can't remember where I am at, but I was already partway into that, I had something weird like +8 MND and +8 STR or something.
Even if I just get +10 all attributes, that would still be a big boost.

Absolute Virtue. The trick was just someone had to use the same two hour less than a couple seconds after he used a two hour in order to nullify it. Was it that hard to figure out? Yes, this actually happened - Jack finally dropped! Probably 80ish kills before it finally happened. Oh, he's a 20-30 minute spawn now which helped. Biggest problem Absolute Virtue's 2 hours was Benediction. The 1st group that did it had no idea WHY he stopped doing it. Then they proceeded to kill him, and couldn't figure out what had happened. Hey what's going on in your SS for Jack? I see it says [BULLY] 2:37. Is that an echo macro you setup?

Oh, they also made attributes more meritable. Used to be there was a category limit to 15 total upgrades. Now you can merit each attribute +15.

Oh, the Omega in Sea and there are also some super versions of the Aeons, or summons, or whatever they are called in this game. Need to add those to my list. Congrats on relic weapon. Trying to figure out what would be a good weapon to get for Blu. Aramat requires a 1500 metal plate if you want to finish some of the trials. There are some other Rapsodies weapons that are still good and easier to obtain which I might go for.

Forgot Dynamis on my list, need to go kill DL and win all the new areas. Never got a Kraken club, did get a Khanda+3, ffxiclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Khanda_%2B3 I don't remember if I upgraded it to the next level. In 2012, if you were part way through Abby, you could solo the rest of it by killing specific NMs for key items that made you strong in Abby. I attempted it back then, but wasn't quite strong enough. With trusts and 109/119 gear, I don't think it will be a problem. I remember the ToAU and WoTG rewards weren't great, so I didn't go after them in 2012, only about 1/2 way through each one. The RoZ and CoP gear was still really good. (My gear I got in 2006 was still great in 2012) I think you can augment those for additional stat bonuses. SE didn't do much with augments after release, but it's worth it if you are going to wear the gear forever. Would hit that up after doing level 109/119 gear.

Nice! I see you were busy! My favorite shots are below. ...what? I don't see any reason why there wasn't a gif of the Mithra um... unequipping As I remember they unequip nicely in this game. ...January in Buffalo already? How do you pull that off lol? After I've re-watched RoZ and COP through youtube, think I might start playing again in a few weeks. I have been reading that Blu and Pld are desired jobs, so think I'll just deck them out. Blu has all except 5-6 of the old spells. None of the new spells yet, but that should be ok. My checklist will probably be as follows: [ ] Contact Tibentt, become official holder of sacks for Edeas Orphans. [ ] Contact any and all former Orphans I can get ahold of. [ ] Do basic Rapsody Missions, get Trusts, get level 99 gear. Expand storage [ ] Deck out Blu and Pld. Pld will be secondary job. 3rd job might be scholar. [ ] Conquer Dynamis [ ] Finish ToAU [ ] Finish WOTG [ ] Conquer Abyssea [ ] Conquer Ground (Kings) [ ] Conquer Sky (Kill Kirin) [ ] Conquer Sea (Absolute Virtue) [ ] Conquer Whatever was in TOAU [ ] Do whatever the new expansion was [ ] Finish Rapsodies

Nice. Good job representing Titan. When did they do that? About how many people were credited for that?

Will have to dig through some of that later, updating now. Turns out FFXIAH has TONS of information. Was able to look up the current EO status. Tibent is now Tibentt, still and active player, and seems to have some almost everything in the game. Attachments:

I am sure you have all found similar things by now, but here's a youtube poster who posted all cut scenes. www.youtube.com/user/FFXITheMovie/playlists?shelf_id=0&view=1&sort=ddI never figured out what the opening movie really had to do with the game. Only beat the main story, RoZ, and CoP. Maybe it was in the WOTG expansion or maybe they never related it. Anyways I wasn't going to replay the game like I would a normal FF game, but you can see it all here

Here's the quote tag: I shouldn't post this, but several weeks before they left, Bale came to me, stating the mistrust Bale/Aerya/Imoh had with Tempus/Markus/Krazi/Miruuk in regards to the LS bank. He asked me if I would leave the shell if he did. They were already considering leaving the shell. It isn't something they are "being jumped on for". The problem is that the entire story wasn't brought to light. Just the parts of it people thought were "need to know". Which leaves holes that get filled in with incorrect information. Interesting, so I read plenty about this, and just as she said, holes got filled in with incorrect information. Like this: note: Tempus doesn't want to have to take all the effort of doing all the calculations necessarry to provide an accurate figure. He can't log on, look at gil, and say that's what it is. He has to log on and make a whole bunch of subtractions and additions from outstanding pay outs and gil. So before he has to take effort of calculating it, he asks Aerya what the plan is again. Easier for Aerya to say his plan than for Temp to calculate the balance. Once you automate those things and set them up, it is actually easier to look it up than explain what you want to do with it (not that explaining would have been all that difficult). So Beren saying he knew it the whole time made more sense than acting like it was a bunch of effort to calculate. So with Imo's and Aerya's behavior, not revealing the balance from the SH point of view may have made sense. They probably just didn't want them sharing the bank balance with everyone and then getting complaining every time something was bought. I bet they were testing the waters seeing how they would react during the discussions, and cared more about their reaction than anything else. Regardless of how the SH would have handled it, once a fellow SH went up to Alanthiana and asked her to leave, game over. Drama Torma was coming out and a bunch of people were leaving, regardless of the balance or if it was known by everyone.
