"Most" users don't is a more true statement. And you are right....many opinions of mine are based on assumptions. Like knowing you electronically as I do, I assume you probably have other options (probably better) to do everything you listed that you use Linux on your PS3 for. Maybe not as convenient or as satisfying. But in the end...it is a "video game system" I agree the browser on the PS3 is garbage. So very horrible. And as far as it being a logical fallacy that it will "save the PS3" I'm not saying it will save or destroy it, but it will undoubtely assist in protecting it and for that reason, I'm all for it. here read up on geohot and his progress he is making leaps that no other hacker has yet done. Its because of him that Sony took the steps they did. Here is how I see it. It sucks...it royally sucks. But I'd rather not have another dreamcast on my hands (yea thats stretching it a bit far). But we all know that Sony isn't the strongest selling software....ANY amount they lose will hurt them more then it would the other 2 consoles and that is a fact. to put it bluntly...Games more important then Linux to me.

Its far from complete bullshit.
Geohot (the well know IPHONE hacker aka blackrain) has claimed and shown he has cracked the PS3's hyperviser. This is the key to allow him custom firmware which can eventually allow him SPU access, RSX access and ultimately, blu-ray encryption access.
The only way this is possible....Linux.
Now Geohot has a long ways to go before any of this is possible....but he has swore to succeeding. Sony took the only option they could. In fact he said he will have custom firmware out that will allow linux to stay and even turn the option OS on the PS3 Slims within a few weeks.
Not only that....linux is subpar compared to even your average pc due to no RSX or Cell access. It was nearly pointless on many levels.
Yes yes....we can be butthurt from a bait and switch or simply losing a feature we would never use just because we had it......or we can be thankful that there will be PS3 games in our future....
sorry...touchy subject for me that I've already went back and forth on.
it was a neat feature...one that will not be replicated in the future by any manufacturer because a few bad eggs messed it up for us all.

yea Bobby Kotick loves to raise prices. He raised the price of Modern Warfare 2 in Europe by 10 Euros. Raise the price of the Modern Warfare 2 map expansion by $5. But he knows people will pay it. While he is correct...he is quickly becoming the most hated icon of the video game industry.

lol Markus...those are the best line of Playstation commercials ever. They are partially responsible for a 185% increase in sales. And they are hillarious.

WHY DID MY 360 HAVE TO BREAK Fucking hell, you jinxed me! FFXIII was next on my Gamefly queue, for which the only reason I've remained subscribed was playing FFXIII since I couldn't afford it. The very next day, my PS3 (which I bought new, have had for less than a year, and have logged less than 100 hours on,) has no indication of power at all. Completely dead. Probably the power supply, and outside the 90 day Sony Warranty. Ironically, my 360, which I've had for years and have logged countless hours on, is still trucking fine... with luck, I can just swap for the 360 version of XIII and sill play it before my account expires. -_- wait wait wait...PS3 warranty is 1 year? They will replace it with a refurb, but it will be done for free.

I'm only about 2-3 hours in, and so far it's visually stunning, vanille is super hot (although I wish she'd shut the hell up), and all i've done so far is mash x at every opportunity. I know it'll pick up eventually but I'm already craving a little variety in my fights. just beat the first fal'cie Agreed, I honestly got bored of the combat system in the first 20 minutes. Didn't want to criticize it since I played so little and I hear it gets better later on.. But seriously my two year old can mash x all day and take a potion once in a blue.... yea play more into it. It gets intense and extremely strategic later on with paradigm shifts.

turning out to be one of the most amazing games I've played this gen. This game is SAD!. If you have any depression issue then avoide it at all costs or you might shoot yourself in the face lol. The story is amazing so far and the multiple possabilities in the direction the story can go depending on your decisions are infinite.
